One of many parks in Ankara. One of my favourites :smiley_good:

Youth Park) is a public park in Ankara, Turkey.
he oldest park
in Ankara (1943) Gen�lik Park?, used to be the only place for
the residents of Ankara to enjoy the taste of nature, complete
with pond and greenery.
his 38 hectares park is where today\'s
middle-aged generation spent their youth. The park houses what
once Ankara\'s only amusement park. There are also tea gardens,
restaurants, outdoor cafes, outdoor theatre performances and a
large pond on which you can row or water-cycle.
Geography

he 27.5 ha (68 acres) park is almost at the
center of Ankara. Its altitute is about 850 m (2,790 ft), which
makes it one of the lowest points of Ankara. It is surounded by
Ulus Square in the north, Opera house in the east, Selim S?rr?
Tarcan Sports Hall and Ankara Central Station in the south and,
19 May?s Stadium in the west.</strong>

uring
the early years of the republic, the place, where now the park
is, was a marshland. After the marshes were dried up, the park
was established and opened to public on 19 May 1943, the
National Youth Day. There were coffee houses around the 42,000
m2 (0.016 sq mi) main pool, a swimming pool, a luna park, an
open air theatre and tracks. In 1957, two miniature trains were
established within the park area as a part of
ammusement.</strong><strong>

he park in the
2000s
fter restoration and renovation works, there are now a
cultural center, youths\' center and Ankara Municipality
Convention Hall as well as 43 kiosks in the park. During nights
light performances are held in the main pool. Also a science
museum is under construction.

Wow! Looks like a great place to spend the day out in the
elements, and also enjoy some cultural activities. :smiley_good:
More cities need to create areas like this, especially now that
life is much more stressful on a daily basis, and we\'ve adopted
such an indoor lifestyle...We\'re either at work or sitting
front of a TV or computer monitor. Thanks for sharing.
