How To Do Forum Related Stuff

There are too many threads being opened asking how to do things.
It makes th forum messy and makes all the threads hard to find
so I\'ve decided to open a thread that will hold basic
instructions on how to do things. It will have a sister thread
where all questions can be posted. Thank you vici for the
illustration.
ow To add a signature. Remember you can
only have 2. It slows down the loading of pages too much for
some member. If you have more that 2, you will get a warning. If
within 24 hours you still have more than 2, I will remove one
for you. Thank You!

Avatar Installation (and possible
problems)
o you want an image (\"Avatar\") of
your choice to show up under your name, huh?

Here\'s
how:

1.Click on your forum name then on
theMy Profilelink, located near the top of the
forum.
2.Click on the word \"change\" right on the
avatar image
3.Click the \"choose file
button\"button to find the image you want (this would be an
image which you have saved on your computer).
r you can enter
an URL address and then click on import (to add an image from
the web)
4.Click Done.

Your new avatar
should be in place. You can change this image whenever you like.
Simply repeat the steps above.

Problems
replacing your Avatar or Personal Photo?
If, after you
have tried to change your Avatar/Personal Photo, it looks as if
your old image is still there... it\'s probably because the
image has got \"stuck\" in your browser (Explorer, Firefox,
Mozilla, Opera, Netscape etc) memory.

Try looking at a
topic where you can see your avatar (or click on your own name
in a topic to view your profile and personal photo), then hold
down theSHIFTkey on your keyboard while you click
theRefresh/Reloadbutton in your browser.

This
should refresh the page, empty your browser\'s memory (cache)
and you should now see the new avatar you\'ve
chosen.

You Avatar looks
stretched?
Large images are automatically re-sized to
fit into the forum. This is most likely the reason why your
image looks stretched.

If you own a graphics program
(such as Paint or Adobe Photoshop) and know how to re-size
images; the maximum width for your avatar is 144 pixels and the
maximum height is 150 pixels.

Can\'t get the
image to upload?
If you can\'t get your avatar to work
at all, you might be trying to use an image which can\'t be used
on the Internet. In that case you should see this error
message:
ou are not allowed to upload that type of file
as an avatar or personal photo
his means that the image you
tried to use was not a.gif .jpeg .jpgor.png.
Please pick another image (unless you know how to re-save the
image as one of the accepted formats in a graphics
program).

You see a \"broken image\" symbol
instead of your Avatar/Personal Photo?
If you see a
\"broken image\" instead of the image you\'ve chosen you should
try uploading the image again.
In rare cases the image may
be damaged, which will also result in a \"broken image\"
symbol.

If you can\'t get the image to work, even after
a second try, you will have to pick another image unless you are
able repair the image in a graphics program.
