Trans Playlists
By: Tadzio Date: July 31, 2016, 9:27 pm

Does anybody else have a "trans playlist"? Here is mine:
Some of these aren't intentional trans songs - most aren't! -
but I relate.
Leonard Cohen - Bird on the Wire
David Bowie - Boys Keep Swinging
The Kinks - God's Children
Black Sabbath - Megalomania
Sex Pistols - I Wanna Be Me
The Damned - Smash It Up
The Beach Boys - I Just Wasn't Made For These Times
Arcade Fire - My Body Is A Cage
Radiohead - Bodysnatchers
Johnny Cash - A Boy Named Sue
Some other songs I like which relate to trans stuff:
Iggy Pop - Gardenia
The Kinks - Lola
The Velvet Underground - Candy Says and Lady Godiva's Operation
Lou Reed - Make Up and Walk On The Wild Side
David Bowie - Rebel Rebel and Lady Stardust
And some bad ones:
Manic Street Preachers - Born A Girl
Mother Mother - Body
If we get enough of these together, I'll get an album (read:
.rar) up.

Oh my god... do you listen to Leonard Cohen too? I absolutely
love him. I've never thought about that song in that context.

I adore Leonard Cohen. I'd also throw in Heart With No
Companion, come to think of it.
For I sing this for the captain of a ship that's not been built,
for the mother in confusion, her cradle still unfilled, for the
heart with no companion, for the soul without a king, for the
prima ballerina who cannot dance to anything.
I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be a Jew addressing a Christian
(as in, "you have a Messiah, I don't, no fair!"), but, still.

A couple more:
Drenge - Have You Forgotten My Name?
T. Rex - Free Angel
One I loved as a kid but hate now (but still occasionally listen
to out of nostalgia):
Placebo - Kings of Medicine

I don't know any of these but the Cohen and Bowie stuff. Oh, and
the Velvets are neat too. Gotta love me some ominous Lou Reed
whispering and John Cale snarling over surgical noises, right?
Ri-ight? :P

The joys of art, it's always up for your own interpretation,
really.
