ANOTHER IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

This place is a piece of crap, and I should've done my research
a long time ago instead of just jumping into the first thing
that came along. That was my fault.
Because I felt so awful about it, I was willing to spend half of
my paycheck to make an amazing website for y'all-but that isn't
happening.
But I do have a new proposal. We shut down the site and head
somewhere else. Somewhere where, yes, I'm paying ten bucks a
month to use it, but no popup ads, no language restrictions, and
the layout is much better. I had just a demo run with forums.net
and it looks amazing. I want to move the site there. The only
thing is, is it would cost me even MORE money to move everything
we have here, over there.
So this is what I'm asking y'all. Do you want to start fresh on
another forum, or keep the conversations we have going? I have
tried to use this website and it just isn't working at all. I
can't do it. The options over there are so much better, it has a
cleaner look, so we are moving, definitely. But I have the
option of taking the topics we have HERE and moving them over
there.
And at the end of this, I'm sorry for freaking out. I WANT to be
a good admin, and I felt like if I wasn't spending money on the
site, it was going to stay this awful mess forever. I can't even
navigate this stupid place correctly.
So, I'm leaving the choice to y'all.

I for one do not feel the need to have everything remain 'as is'
in order to move on to what will be.
There are a few jokes, plays, freakouts, stories, and other
memories that are here that others may wish to preserve, but as
always groups are about the people, not the locale.
I could even vote to remain here in this now magenta-shaded
patch of hell we call our own, but am largely more concerned
about staying in contact with those I call friend.
Besides, I'm the Goddamn Black Hand.
Anywhere I go, I bring the awesomosity not seen in aeons of
strife and exchange.

I think it might be best to wipe the slate clean and start again
on a new site. The site here is a bit of a mess in terms of
layout, and the Forums.net-based communities I've been on in the
past have generally been a good deal cleaner. However, in order
to get the new site to a decent level of membership and level of
activity, I do think there may need to be one or two changes to
the current site idea.
A MODEST PROPOSAL: We change what Court of Madness is about.
At the moment, we're an Elder Scrolls site. And on the TES
front, things are pretty quiet; so far, the latest big TES thing
was TES Online, which was a bit like a damp fart in a paper bag
in terms of impact and lasting legacy. Interest in the series is
at an a low point, and the amount of people looking for a
discussion platform to talk about it is going to be down as
well. Chorrol is getting by, yes, but that's because they have
an established base of members and also gets new people in
through being an offshoot of the official Bethsoft forums, where
people go when they've got enough of the Bethsoft moderators. So
far, all this site has done is tried to be an offshoot of an
offshoot, and our offshoot base is small at that.
The other main thing that does unite the members here, besides
an interest in TES, is a general interest in writing and
fanfiction. And I think that we should make the new Court of
Madness (or whatever the name of the new site is) a writing and
roleplaying forum, with a strong bent towards sci-fi and fantasy
and towards fandoms, especially TES. It broadens our appeal a
great deal but still keeps the core interests of the site
intact. Keeping The Court of Madness as an Elder Scrolls only
forum is, as far as I can guess, only going to cause the new
site to stagnate.
Those are my two pence, anyway. I don't know how you feel about
the idea, but I thought it was worth considering.

I can roll with what the other roll with, I guess. I just feel a
bit sad that this place didn�t work out for you, Liz. Good
effort, though :)
As you all know I�m not a roleplayer/writer if that�s what the
new site will be mostly about, but at the very least I can bump
the member count and wreck havoc in the General section! ;D
