| THE RIDDLE OF SAMSON | |
| By: alphaomega Date: March 18, 2013, 2:54 pm | |
| --------------------------------------------------------- | |
| Judges 14 | |
| New Revised Standard Version (NRSV | |
| 5 Then Samson went down with his father and mother to Timnah. | |
| When he came to the vineyards of Timnah, suddenly a young lion | |
| roared at him. 6 The spirit of the Lord rushed on him, and he | |
| tore the lion apart barehanded as one might tear apart a kid. | |
| But he did not tell his father or his mother what he had done. 7 | |
| Then he went down and talked with the woman, and she pleased | |
| Samson. 8 After a while he returned to marry her, and he turned | |
| aside to see the carcass of the lion, and there was a swarm of | |
| bees in the body of the lion, and honey. 9 He scraped it out | |
| into his hands, and went on, eating as he went. When he came to | |
| his father and mother, he gave some to them, and they ate it. | |
| But he did not tell them that he had taken the honey from the | |
| carcass of the lion. | |
| FROM A FALLEN LION COMES HONEY | |
| * WHY IS THIS STORY HERE ? | |
| * IS THIS EVENT INSPIRED BY GOD ? | |
| * DOES THIS STORY TELL US SOMETHING DEEPER? | |

| WHAT IS THIS? | |
| Baruch the friend and scribe of Jeremiah who are at the time of | |
| the captivity of (Judah) the southern kingdom. | |
| The northern kingdom ( Israel) has gone into captivity much | |
| ealier and have no contact ( being in captivity) with this | |
| southern kingdom. | |
| How are they to hear this message? | |
| Baruch 4 | |
| New Revised Standard Version (NRSV) | |
| She is the book of the commandments of God, | |
| the law that endures forever. | |
| All who hold her fast will live, | |
| and those who forsake her will die. | |
| 2 Turn, O Jacob, and take her; | |
| walk toward the shining of her light. | |
| 3 Do not give your glory to another, | |
| or your advantages to an alien people. | |
| 4 Happy are we, O Israel, | |
| for we know what is pleasing to God. | |
| Encouragement for Israel | |
| 5 Take courage, my people, | |
| who perpetuate Israels name! | |
| 6 It was not for destruction | |
| that you were sold to the nations, | |
| but you were handed over to your enemies | |
| because you angered God. | |
| 7 For you provoked the one who made you | |
| by sacrificing to demons and not to God. | |
| 8 You forgot the everlasting God, who brought you up, | |
| and you grieved Jerusalem, who reared you. | |
| 9 For she saw the wrath that came upon you from God, | |
| and she said: | |
| Listen, you neighbors of Zion, | |
| God has brought great sorrow upon me; | |
| 10 for I have seen the exile of my sons and daughters, | |
| which the Everlasting brought upon them. | |
| 11 With joy I nurtured them, | |
| but I sent them away with weeping and sorrow. | |
| 12 Let no one rejoice over me, a widow | |
| and bereaved of many; | |
| I was left desolate because of the sins of my children, | |
| because they turned away from the law of God. | |
| 13 They had no regard for his statutes; | |
| they did not walk in the ways of Gods commandments, | |
| or tread the paths his righteousness showed them. | |
| 14 Let the neighbors of Zion come; | |
| remember the capture of my sons and daughters, | |
| which the Everlasting brought upon them. | |
| 15 For he brought a distant nation against them, | |
| a nation ruthless and of a strange language, | |
| which had no respect for the aged | |
| and no pity for a child. | |
| 16 They led away the widows beloved sons, | |
| and bereaved the lonely woman of her daughters. | |
| 17 But I, how can I help you? | |
| 18 For he who brought these calamities upon you | |
| will deliver you from the hand of your enemies. | |
| 19 Go, my children, go; | |
| for I have been left desolate. | |
| 20 I have taken off the robe of peace | |
| and put on sackcloth for my supplication; | |
| I will cry to the Everlasting all my days. | |
| 21 Take courage, my children, cry to God, | |
| and he will deliver you from the power and hand of the | |
| enemy. | |
| 22 For I have put my hope in the Everlasting to save you, | |
| and joy has come to me from the Holy One, | |
| because of the mercy that will soon come to you | |
| from your everlasting savior.[a] | |
| 23 For I sent you out with sorrow and weeping, | |
| but God will give you back to me with joy and gladness | |
| forever. | |
| 24 For as the neighbors of Zion have now seen your capture, | |
| so they soon will see your salvation by God, | |
| which will come to you with great glory | |
| and with the splendor of the Everlasting. | |
| 25 My children, endure with patience the wrath that has come | |
| upon you from God. | |
| Your enemy has overtaken you, | |
| but you will soon see their destruction | |
| and will tread upon their necks. | |
| 26 My pampered children have traveled rough roads; | |
| they were taken away like a flock carried off by the enemy. | |
| 27 Take courage, my children, and cry to God, | |
| for you will be remembered by the one who brought this upon | |
| you. | |
| 28 For just as you were disposed to go astray from God, | |
| return with tenfold zeal to seek him. | |
| 29 For the one who brought these calamities upon you | |
| will bring you everlasting joy with your salvation. | |

| THIS BARUCH ; has a message from the lord......... | |
| Jeremiah 45 | |
| New American Standard Bible (NASB) | |
| Message to Baruch | |
| This is the message which Jeremiah the prophet spoke to | |
| (A)Baruch the son of Neriah, when he had (B)written down these | |
| words in a book [a]at Jeremiahs dictation, in the (C)fourth | |
| year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, saying: 2 | |
| Thus says the Lord the God of Israel to you, O Baruch: 3 You | |
| said, Ah, woe is me! For the Lord has added sorrow to my pain; | |
| I am (D)weary with my groaning and have found no rest. 4 Thus | |
| you are to say to him, Thus says the Lord, Behold, (E)what I | |
| have built I am about to tear down, and what I have planted I am | |
| about to uproot, that is, the whole land. 5 But you, are you | |
| (F)seeking great things for yourself? Do not seek them; for | |
| behold, I am going to (G)bring disaster on all flesh, declares | |
| the Lord, but I will (H)give your life to you as booty in all | |
| the places where you may go. | |
| So just where does he go? | |

| BEFORE THIS CHAPTER 45 ; | |
| we have said that JEREMIAH and BARUCH where at the time of the | |
| captivity of the southern kingdom as seen below ..... | |
| Jeremiah 39 | |
| New American Standard Bible (NASB) | |
| Jerusalem Captured | |
| 39 [a]Now when Jerusalem was captured [b](A)in the ninth year of | |
| Zedekiah king of Judah, in the tenth month, Nebuchadnezzar king | |
| of Babylon and all his army came to Jerusalem and laid siege to | |
| it; 2 in the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, in | |
| the ninth day of the month, the city wall was (B)breached. 3 | |
| Then all the (C)officials of the king of Babylon came in and sat | |
| down at the (D)Middle Gate: Nergal-sar-ezer, Samgar-nebu, | |
| Sar-sekim the [c]Rab-saris, Nergal-sar-ezer the [d]Rab-mag, and | |
| all the rest of the officials of the king of Babylon. 4 When | |
| Zedekiah the king of Judah and all the men of war saw them, they | |
| (E)fled and went out of the city at night by way of the kings | |
| garden through the gate (F)between the two walls; and he went | |
| out toward the [e]Arabah. 5 But the army of the (G)Chaldeans | |
| pursued them and overtook Zedekiah in the (H)plains of Jericho; | |
| and they seized him and brought him up to Nebuchadnezzar king of | |
| Babylon at (I)Riblah in the land of Hamath, and he passed | |
| sentence on him. 6 Then the (J)king of Babylon slew the sons of | |
| Zedekiah (K)before his eyes at Riblah; the king of Babylon also | |
| slew all the (L)nobles of Judah. 7 He then (M)blinded Zedekiahs | |
| eyes and bound him in (N)fetters of bronze to bring him to | |
| (O)Babylon. 8 The Chaldeans also (P)burned with fire the kings | |
| palace and the houses of the people, and they (Q)broke down the | |
| walls of Jerusalem. 9 As for the rest of the people who were | |
| left in the city, the [f](R)deserters who had gone over to him | |
| and (S)the rest of the people who remained, (T)Nebuzaradan the | |
| (U)captain of the bodyguard carried them into exile in Babylon. | |
| 10 But some of the (V)poorest people who had nothing, | |
| (W)Nebuzaradan the captain of the bodyguard left behind in the | |
| land of Judah, and gave them vineyards and fields [g]at that | |
| time. | |
| But where is Jeremiah and Baruch? | |

| Jeremiah Spared | |
| 11 Now Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon gave orders about | |
| (X)Jeremiah through Nebuzaradan the captain of the bodyguard, | |
| saying, 12 Take him and [h]look after him, and (Y)do nothing | |
| harmful to him, but rather deal with him just as he tells you. | |
| 13 So Nebuzaradan the captain of the bodyguard sent word, along | |
| with Nebushazban the Rab-saris, and Nergal-sar-ezer the | |
| [j]Rab-mag, and all the leading officers of the king of Babylon; | |
| 14 they even sent and (Z)took Jeremiah out of the court of the | |
| guardhouse and entrusted him to (AA)Gedaliah, the son of | |
| (AB)Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, to take him home. So he stayed | |
| among the people. | |
| 15 Now the word of the Lord had come to Jeremiah while he was | |
| (AC)confined in the court of the guardhouse, saying, 16 Go and | |
| speak to (AD)Ebed-melech the Ethiopian, saying, Thus says the | |
| Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, Behold, I am about to bring | |
| My words on this city (AE)for disaster and not for | |
| [k]prosperity; and they will (AF)take place before you on that | |
| day. 17 But I will (AG)deliver you on that day, declares the | |
| Lord, and you will not be given into the hand of the men whom | |
| you dread. 18 For I will certainly rescue you, and you will not | |
| fall by the sword; | |
| but you will have your own (AH)life as booty, because you have | |
| (AI)trusted in Me, declares the Lord. | |
| [i]SO WE SEE JEREMIAH AND BARUCH DO NOT GO INTO CAPTIVITY ; | |
| BUT IS THERE MORE TO THIS STORY? | |

| Jeremiah 40 | |
| New American Standard Bible (NASB) | |
| Jeremiah Remains in Judah | |
| 40 The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord after | |
| (A)Nebuzaradan captain of the bodyguard had released him from | |
| (B)Ramah, when he had taken him bound in (C)chains among all the | |
| exiles of Jerusalem and Judah who were being exiled to Babylon. | |
| 2 Now the captain of the bodyguard had taken Jeremiah and said | |
| to him, The (D)Lord your God promised this calamity against | |
| this place; 3 and the Lord has brought it on and done just as He | |
| promised. Because you people (E)sinned against the Lord and did | |
| not listen to His voice, therefore this thing has happened to | |
| you. 4 But now, behold, I am (F)freeing you today from the | |
| chains which are on your hands. If [a]you would prefer to come | |
| with me to Babylon, come along, and I will [b]look after you; | |
| but if [c]you would prefer not to come with me to Babylon, | |
| [d]never mind. Look, the (G)whole land is before you; go | |
| wherever it seems good and right for you to go. 5 As | |
| [e]Jeremiah was still not going back, [f]he said, Go on back | |
| then to (H)Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, whom | |
| the king of Babylon has (I)appointed over the cities of Judah, | |
| and stay with him among the people; or else go anywhere it seems | |
| right for you to go. So the captain of the bodyguard gave him a | |
| (J)ration and a (K)gift and let him go. | |
| 6 Then Jeremiah went to (L)Mizpah to (M)Gedaliah the son of | |
| Ahikam and stayed with him among(10 But some of the (V)poorest | |

| Jeremiah 41:10 | |
| Then Ishmael took captive all the remnant of the people who were | |
| in Mizpah, the kings daughters and all the people who were | |
| left in Mizpah, whom Nebuzaradan the captain of the bodyguard | |
| had put under the charge of Gedaliah the son of Ahikam; thus | |
| Ishmael the son of Nethaniah took them captive and proceeded to | |
| cross over to the sons of Ammon. | |

| 5 But Johanan the son of Kareah and all the [a]commanders of the | |
| forces took the (A)entire remnant of Judah who had returned from | |
| all the nations to which they had been driven away, in order to | |
| reside in the land of Judah 6 the men, the women, the children, | |
| the (B)kings daughters and (C)every person that Nebuzaradan | |
| the captain of the bodyguard had left with Gedaliah the son of | |
| Ahikam [c]and grandson of Shaphan, together with (D)Jeremiah the | |
| prophet and Baruch the son of Neriah 7 and they entered the | |
| land of Egypt (for they did not obey the voice of the Lord) and | |
| went in as far as (E)Tahpanhes. | |
| AND HERE WE ARE AGAIN ; BACK AT | |
| Jeremiah 45 | |
| New American Standard Bible (NASB) | |
| Message to Baruch | |
| 45 This is the message which Jeremiah the prophet spoke to | |
| (A)Baruch the son of Neriah, when he had (B)written down these | |
| words in a book [a]at Jeremiahs dictation, in the (C)fourth | |
| year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, saying: 2 | |
| WHERE DO JEREMIAH AND BARUCH GO and with whom? | |
| 13 This is the [m]message which the Lord spoke to Jeremiah the | |
| prophet about the (AD)coming of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon | |
| to (AE)smite the land of Egypt: | |
| 14 Declare in Egypt and proclaim in (AF)Migdol, | |
| Proclaim also in Memphis and (AG)Tahpanhes; | |
| Say, Take your stand and get yourself ready, | |
| For the (AH)sword has devoured those around you. | |
| 15 Why have your (AI)mighty ones become prostrate? | |
| They do not stand because the Lord has (AJ)thrust them down. | |
| 16 They have repeatedly (AK)stumbled; | |
| Indeed, they have fallen one against another. | |
| Then they said, Get up! And (AL)let us go back | |
| To our own people and our native land | |
| Away from the [n](AM)sword of the oppressor. | |
| 17 [o]They cried there, Pharaoh king of Egypt is but (AN)a big | |
| noise; | |
| He has let the appointed time pass by! | |
| 18 As I live, declares the (AO)King | |
| Whose name is the Lord of hosts, | |
| Surely one shall come who looms up like (AP)Tabor among the | |
| mountains, | |
| Or like (AQ)Carmel by the sea. | |
| 19 Make your baggage ready for (AR)exile, | |
| O (AS)daughter dwelling in Egypt, | |
| For (AT)Memphis will become a desolation; | |
| It will even be burned down and [p]bereft of inhabitants. | |
| 20 Egypt is a pretty (AU)heifer, | |
| But a [q]horsefly is coming (AV)from the northit is coming! | |
| 21 Also her (AW)mercenaries in her midst | |
| Are like [r]fattened (AX)calves, | |
| For even they too have turned back and have fled away together; | |
| They did not stand their ground. | |
| For the day of their calamity has come upon them, | |
| The time of their (AY)punishment. | |
| WHERE DO JEREMIAH AND BARUCH GO and with whom? | |
| 25 The Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, says, Behold, I am | |
| going to punish Amon of (BC)Thebes, and (BD)Pharaoh, and Egypt | |
| along with her (BE)gods and her kings, even Pharaoh and those | |
| who (BF)trust in him. 26 I shall give them over to the [v]power | |
| of those who are (BG)seeking their lives, even into the hand of | |
| Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and into the hand of his | |
| [w]officers. (BH)Afterwards, however, it will be inhabited as in | |
| the days of old, declares the Lord. | |
| 27 But as for you, O Jacob My servant, (BI)do not fear, | |
| Nor be dismayed, O Israel! | |
| For, see, I am going to (BJ)save you from afar, | |
| And your descendants from the land of their captivity; | |
| And Jacob will return and be (BK)undisturbed | |
| And secure, with no one making him tremble. | |
| 28 O Jacob My servant, do not fear, declares the Lord, | |
| For (BL)I am with you. | |
| For I will make a full end of all the nations | |
| Where I have driven you, | |
| Yet I will (BM)not make a full end of you; | |
| But I will (BN)correct you properly | |
| And by no means leave you unpunished. | |
| please note; this Israel is the northern tribes who are not | |
| here. | |
| AND THEY ARE NOT FREE TO CHOOSE IN THE TIME OF THE CAPTIVITY OF | |
| THE SOUTHERN KINGDOMS CAPTIVITY BEING SPOKEN OF HERE | |
| they have been in their own captivity for some time now | |
| JEREMIAH SPEAK OF THE FURTURE OF THE LANDS OF CAPTIVITY | |
| {BABYLON} | |
| Babylon Judged for Sins against Israel | |
| 51 Thus says the Lord: | |
| Behold, I am going to arouse against Babylon | |
| And against the inhabitants of [a]Leb-kamai | |
| [b]The (A)spirit of a destroyer. | |
| 2 I will dispatch [c]foreigners to Babylon that they may | |
| (B)winnow her | |
| And may devastate her land; | |
| For on every side they will be opposed to her | |
| In the day of her calamity. | |
| 3 [d]Let not [e]him who [f](C)bends his bow [g]bend it, | |
| [h]Nor let him rise up in his (D)scale-armor; | |
| So do not spare her young men; | |
| Devote all her army to destruction. | |
| 4 They will fall down slain in the land of the Chaldeans, | |
| And (E)pierced through in their streets. | |
| 5 For (F)neither Israel nor Judah has been [j]forsaken | |
| By his God, the Lord of hosts, | |
| Although their land is (G)full of guilt | |
| [k]Before the Holy One of Israel. | |
| 6 (H)Flee from the midst of Babylon, | |
| And each of you save his life! | |
| Do not be [l](I)destroyed in her [m]punishment, | |
| For this is the (J)Lords time of vengeance; | |
| He is going to (K)render recompense to her. | |
| 7 Babylon has been a golden (L)cup in the hand of the Lord, | |
| Intoxicating all the earth. | |
| The (M)nations have drunk of her wine; | |
| Therefore the nations are (N)going mad. | |
| 8 Suddenly (O)Babylon has fallen and been broken; | |
| (P)Wail over her! | |
| (Q)Bring [n]balm for her pain; | |
| Perhaps she may be healed. | |
| 9 We applied healing to Babylon, but she was not healed; | |
| Forsake her and (R)let us each go to his own country, | |
| For her judgment has (S)reached to heaven | |
| And [o]towers up to the very skies. | |
| [i]NOTE ; the separation of the two | |
| ISRAEL ; the northern kindom | |
| JUDAH; the southern kingdom | |
| two distint groups ; two different paths in the plans of God | |
| FROM A FALLEN LION COMES HONEY | |
| the fallen lion is the king of Judah; and the honey is the | |
| KING'S DAUGHTERS | |
| EVEN THE POOR THAT BABYLON LEFT IS JERUSALEM have flled for the | |
| protection of Egypt ; against the warning from GOD. | |
| Babylon comes down and takes them away | |
| but what is the postion taken by Babylon concerning JEREMIAH ? | |
| [b]Look, the (G)whole land is before you; go wherever it seems | |
| good and right for you to go | |
| AND JEREMIAH, BARUCH and the honey that is the daughters of the | |
| king go there way ; | |
| and not into captivity | |
| our story ends here { the riddle of samson } | |
| but for those who need to know more ; i leave you with this | |
| excerpt | |
| Some Scottish legends surrounding the Stone of Scone, | |
| traditionally used for coronations of Scottish kings in the High | |
| Middle Ages, have identified this stone with the Stone of Jacob. | |
| Supposedly the Stone of Jacob was brought to Ireland by the | |
| prophet Jeremiah(by Tea Telphia; the daughter of the fallen | |
| king) and from thence to Scotland. | |
| AND IN MY OPINION ; the only three girls seen in the story of | |
| don quixote are not girls at all | |
| but the three stops of this stone ( ireland-scotland-england) | |
| but again ; | |
| thats another story | |
