| AN OVERLOOKED STORY FROM THE BOOK OF ACTS | |
| By: alphaomega Date: February 22, 2013, 12:14 pm | |
| --------------------------------------------------------- | |
| the story of the opposition of JAMES and PAUL is really the | |
| story of what the Jews thought to be the way (with Jesus added | |
| in) compared to what was brand new and set apart. | |
| the story line of this starts not with JAMES and PAUL but with | |
| PETER'S actions of replacing Judas. | |
| HERE James is present but is not appointed by the disciples nor | |
| is he chosen by lot | |
| THEN the Holy spirit comes , and soon miracles occur a in augh, | |
| the people respond by giving everything | |
| IN GIVING EVERYTHING a dependency is created upon those those | |
| whom all has been given to provide for those who have given all | |
| THIS CREATED THE PROBLEM as seen in the issue with Greek and | |
| Jewish widows | |
| THE DISCIPLES WALK AWAY as they understand their "job" to be | |
| giving their witnessed account of JESUS to the world . | |
| THEY APPOINT STEPHEN and six others for the distrubution of food | |
| for those in Jerusalem | |
| IN TIME STEPHEN IS KILLED and "two men" appear. one is seen and | |
| one is not. these two are PAUL who agrees with the killing of | |
| Stephen and the one who is "unseen" here is JAMES. | |
| WITH THE DEATH OF STEPHEN there comes a scattering , but who | |
| takes over this church of JERUSALEM ; is it not JAMES | |
| A QUESTION HERE; was Stephen over PETER? | |
| will then JAMES become over PETER? | |
| GOD SPEAKS and the story of Cornelius come forth | |
| GOD SAYS to Cornelius go get PETER | |
| GOD SAYS TO PETER go see Cornelius | |
| AND AFTERWARDS an explanation is required of PETER from JAMES ( | |
| and men of) back at the church of Jerusalem as to why he broke | |
| JEWISH LAW. | |
| PETER EXPLAINS ..... GOD SAID .... THE HOLY SPIRIT CAME TO THESE | |
| and all is agreed upon ---right? | |
| THE INCIDENT AT ANTIOCH is next where the same issue is brought | |
| up. | |
| here we see PETER, PAUL and Barnabus ministering the gosple the | |
| people here. PETER is eating with them ( like the story iof | |
| Cornelius ) when men of JAMES come and confront PETER about such | |
| actions again !!! | |
| PETER bows to JAMES (men of) and returns to Jerusalem. | |
| PAUL and BARNABUS go to the Jerusalem council | |
| and at his arrival PAUL is told many priests have joined in and | |
| the (old way) JEWSISH LAW is being followed. Somewhere in here | |
| PAUL addresses PETER about his leaving ANTIOCH and the | |
| dicussions move to what to do with non-Jewish converts to the | |
| faith. | |
| PETER SPEAKS UP "6 Now the apostles and elders came together to | |
| consider this matter. 7 And when there had been much dispute, | |
| Peter rose up and said to them: Men and brethren, you know that | |
| a good while ago God chose among us, that by my mouth the | |
| Gentiles should hear the word of the gospel and believe. 8 So | |
| God, who knows the heart, acknowledged them by giving them the | |
| Holy Spirit, just as He did to us, 9 and made no distinction | |
| between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith. 10 Now | |
| therefore, why do you test God by putting a yoke on the neck of | |
| the disciples which neither our fathers nor we were able to | |
| bear? 11 But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus | |
| Christ[a] we shall be saved in the same manner as they. | |
| PETER SPEAKS to the real issue here; | |
| GOD SAYS;THE HOLY SPIRIT ACTS ; and it is what it is! | |
| PAUL SPEAKS AND CONFIRMS PETER'S story of how the Holy Spirit is | |
| working with these non Jewish converts. "12 Then all the | |
| multitude kept silent and listened to Barnabas and Paul | |
| declaring how many miracles and wonders God had worked through | |
| them among the Gentiles." | |
| JAMES like in the story of Cornelius adds into this some JEWISH | |
| LAW. | |
| James answered, saying, Men and brethren, listen to me: 14 | |
| Simon has declared how God at the first visited the Gentiles to | |
| take out of them a people for His name. 15 And with this the | |
| words of the prophets agree, just as it is written: | |
| 16 After this I will return | |
| And will rebuild the tabernacle of David, which has fallen down; | |
| I will rebuild its ruins, | |
| And I will set it up; | |
| 17 So that the rest of mankind may seek the Lord, | |
| Even all the Gentiles who are called by My name, | |
| Says the Lord who does all these things.[b] | |
| 18 Known to God from eternity are all His works.[c] 19 | |
| Therefore I judge that we should not trouble those from among | |
| the Gentiles who are turning to God, 20 but that we write to | |
| them to abstain from things polluted by idols, from sexual | |
| immorality,[d] from things strangled, and from blood. 21 For | |
| Moses has had throughout many generations those who preach him | |
| in every city, being read in the synagogues every Sabbath. | |
| THE COUNCIL ENDS and PAUL writes the book to the HEBREWS | |
| PAUL'S FEELING are clearly seen with | |
| Galatians 2:11-13 | |
| New King James Version (NKJV) | |
| No Return to the Law | |
| 11 Now when Peter[a] had come to Antioch, I withstood him to his | |
| face, because he was to be blamed; 12 for before certain men | |
| came from James, he would eat with the Gentiles; but when they | |
| came, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing those who were | |
| of the circumcision. 13 And the rest of the Jews also played the | |
| hypocrite with him, so that even Barnabas was carried away with | |
| their hypocrisy. | |
| AND BEFORE THIS, PAUL SPEAKS | |
| "6 But from those who seemed to be somethingwhatever they were, | |
| it makes no difference to me; God shows personal favoritism to | |
| no manfor those who seemed to be something added nothing to me. | |
| 7 But on the contrary, when they saw that the gospel for the | |
| uncircumcised had been committed to me, as the gospel for the | |
| circumcised was to Peter 8 (for He who worked effectively in | |
| Peter for the apostleship to the circumcised also worked | |
| effectively in me toward the Gentiles), 9 and when James, | |
| Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace | |
| that had been given to me, they gave me and Barnabas the right | |
| hand of fellowship, that we should go to the Gentiles and they | |
| to the circumcised" | |
| SO THIS IS AFTER THE COUNCIL OF JERUSALEM and that added in is | |
| this not what JAMES added in at the council ? | |
| Paul in the book to the Hebrews says | |
| men of faith | |
| 4 By faith Abel5 By faith Enoch7 By faith Noah, | |
| 8 By faith Abraham11 By faith Sarah20 By faith Isaac | |
| 21 By faith Jacob,22 By faith Joseph23 By faith Moses, | |
| 31 By faith the harlot Rahab | |
| and then the list becomes general | |
| RAHAB is the last one done in speficic listing | |
| FROM THE BOOK OF JAMES | |
| James 1 | |
| New King James Version (NKJV) | |
| Greeting to the Twelve Tribes | |
| 1 James, a bondservant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, | |
| To the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad: | |
| Greetings. | |
| WHAT A STRANGE OPENING for we see JAMES addressing the | |
| non-Jewish 10northern tribes in the same sentence as the 2 | |
| Jewish tribes and yet he can't reconize ( the samarians who are | |
| part of this group) WHO told him of such that he would listen | |
| to? AUGH but that is another story | |
| 9 Let the lowly brother glory in his exaltation, 10 but the rich | |
| in his humiliation, because as a flower of the field he will | |
| pass away. 11 For no sooner has the sun risen with a burning | |
| heat than it withers the grass; its flower falls, and its | |
| beautiful appearance perishes. So the rich man also will fade | |
| away in his pursuits. | |
| JAMES is the leader of the church of Greek and Jewish widows and | |
| his followers are surley yoked with providing for those who gave | |
| all as well as those who tagged along. | |
| JAMES is confront by PAUL'S book to the Hebrews and PAUL'S words | |
| of those who add nothing to him. PAUL'S theme was "by faith" and | |
| nothing added on ( that added on being what JAMES had said at | |
| the council) JAMES is left to defend his added on words and | |
| responds to his defence . | |
| 18 But someone will say, You have faith, and I have works. | |
| Show me your faith without your[d] works, and I will show you my | |
| faith by my[e] works. | |
| HIS EXAMPLES | |
| 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works | |
| 25 Likewise, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works | |
| THE QUESTION MUST BE ASKED WHY RAHAB if not responding to the | |
| claims of PAUL in his book to the HEBREWS? | |

| I just came over to your forum in response to | |
| Raina's request to do so and read this post. It strikes some | |
| chords in me that require further consideration. Not | |
| immediately, for my mind is tired, but I will come later and try | |
| it again. I haven't completely understood what I have read, but | |
| enough to wonder on it a bit. Thanks AO! | |

| if you notice it all {mostly}from the book of acts ; this seems | |
| to be an over-looked story ; but it is the story straight from | |
| the bible. i think it wise to read it ; go away and ponder it ; | |
| then re-read it again | |
| ps i would love to hear your thoughts on this ; i find it mind | |
| blowing | |
| and the implications plentiful | |
| i doubt if i understand all that it is saying myself | |
| welcome my friend | |

| i have found the lack of responces and comments of this story | |
| seen in the books of acts quite odd ..... | |
| * how many christians are there in the ORTHODOX religion which | |
| claims to have their APOATALIC sucession going back to JAMES ? | |
| WELL here is the JAMES STORY ; | |
| WHY NO DEFENCE OF | |
| HIS POSISTION? | |
| * how many christians who claim to be ROMAN CATHOLIC which | |
| claims to have their APOSTALIC sucession going back to PETER? | |
| WELL here is the PETER STORY; | |
| WHY NO DEFENCE OF | |
| HIS POSITION? | |
| *how many christians who claim to PROTESTANT which owes its | |
| inception to the writings of Paul ? | |
| WELL here is PAULS STORY; | |
| WHY NO DEFENCE OF | |
| HIS POSTITION? | |
| THE ANSWER TO THIS IS OF COARSE; | |
| DENOMINATIONS | |
| ARE BUILT AND FOLLOWED BY "AGENDAS" OF MEN | |
| without reguard | |
| to the intended story of the gospel message. | |
| The gospel story is Jesus; | |
| AND NOT ABOUT THE | |
| AGENDAS BROUGHT BY MEN TO SHOW /PROVE | |
| THIER IMPORTANCE | |
| IN THE KINGDOM | |
| The gospel story is Jesus | |
| * Son of God ~* who he is | |
| * Son of Man ~* what he | |
| did | |
| * The Traveler~* how it | |
| works | |
| ** AND THIS IS FAMILY BUSINESS | |
| ** THE GREAT COMMISION IS FAMILY BUSINESS | |
| ** IT IS THE INVATATION TO JOIN THIS FAMILY | |
| ** AND NOT A RELIGION | |
