So......some rt siz info

[center]As you may - or may not have discovered - i was away
between Monday and today. Reason was hubby and me were in Bergen
- a 5 hour train ride away - to go to classes about:
Vestibularisschwannom
A vestibular schwannoma, also called acoustic neuroma, is a
benign tumor that develops on the vestibulocochlear nerve that
passes from the inner ear to the brain. The tumor originates
when Schwann cells that form the insulating myelin sheath on the
nerve malfunction.

It is rare - about 250 patients a year - and Haukeland Hospital
https://www.helse-bergen.no/en/
(where we have been in for
classes now and B's MRI's and whatnots the last years) has been
the National Treatment Center since 2010. It is very hard to
discover unless that is looked for especially.
What it can do to a person:
Affect your balance and hearing, and if growing too big ( a 3
cm flat one can be ok - it is the volum more than the size) can
hurt and affect the cerebellum. B is ok for now - hearing is
shot on one ear, balance is a bit off - but not more than he can
function somewhat normally...no long drives and some sounds are
bad...like TV on and i want to say something - he has to stop
the TV sound....things like that are easy to forget and hard to
understand always, but the classes helped a lot.
Treatments can be Gamma knife which proves effective for like
96% of the patients - a one time treatment - for a very few it
has to be repeated - or surgery - which is a bit more risky to
say the least. So far he is in the wait/scan stage - meaning an
MRI every 2 years to see if the tumor has grown or not and
how...and how he feels.
So just for info - and feel free to ask if you are curious about
this Vestibularisschwannom
