How much to feed? |

Hey guys, just wanted to ask... in the videos, John and Lisa |
|
said that overfeeding is one of the common causes of early death |
|
in African cichlids... how much do you feed your Africans and |
|
how do you know if you are overfeeding them? |

My main food is Omega 1 cichlid pellets, 35 percent protein, and |
|
I try to make sure each gets a pellet. I also use Cobalt |
|
spirulina flakes and feed enough none makes it to the bottom. I |
|
just watch the tummys and if they look full I cut back a little. |

Most foods will say on them to only feed what they can eat with |
|
in 3 minutes. How much you feed them really depends on a few |
|
things though. If your temperature in the tank is high like in |
|
the 80's they have that food go through their system quite |
|
quickly, But if you keep your tank a bit cold for cichlids it |
|
takes them longer to digest it. The trick is to feed them small |
|
meals. You can feed them multiple times a day if you want as |
|
long as you give them the time to digest it. |

It depends on how many fish you have and how old and big they |
|
are. I had three decent female cichlids and I many tetra feeding |
|
products. If I used the flakes I took a decent size pinch. |
