Fish is slowly dying, need help

I recently got a lethrinops kande albus island and the past
three or four days he has been very lathargic, not swimming
around, not interacting with any other fish, not eating, and I'm
pretty sure I noticed black waste coming out of him. I can tell
he's breathing hard, and I'm sure if I don't try something soon
he's going to die. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
All water levels are excellent, we feed NLS cichlid with small
amounts of krill gold from Northfin. He lives with about 15
other africans that seem to be doing well, including the other
fish I got at the same time as this one.

Have you witnessed any bullying?
Being a 'new' fish, at least to your community, some fish take
longer to get over their shyness. Hopefully this is the case.
Dark waist in my experiences doesn't alarm me. I'm more
concerned about why he's not eating. Does he 'taste' the food
and spit it out?
Perhaps moving him to a separate tank, and dosing with Prime or
other 'stress coat' product to increase his slime coat may be
all you need.
This clearly is only a starting point. Sorry I couldn't advise
more, but do please keep us informed how it's going.

Well unfortunately he died this afternoon. We decided to put
him in a 5gal quarantine tank before work and treat with
aaquarium salt, but he had died by the time my wife came home
for lunch. Not sure if it was the salt, the water in the
quarantine was perfect being it hadn't had a fish in it since we
set it up. He never seemed to get bullied, as far as we could
tell watching him. The bigger problem is this is the third fish
in four months with the exact same illness. It's wierd they
don't all get it at once, one fish will die then 3 weeks later
another fish will start to have the same symptoms. Really
neeed to get it figured out before it happens again.
