| Sand in a mbuna tank | |

| I'm thinking of changing from a gravel substrate to a sand | |
| substrate in my 55 gallon mbuna tank. My question is what kind | |
| of sand will work and not harm the fish or change water ph or | |
| anything? Will pool filter sand work? And how much to I need for | |
| a standard 55 gallon tank? | |

| Pool filter sand is a choice many people use, You only need | |
| about one inch as the fish will move it around and if it's too | |
| deep nasty gasses will build up near the bottom. I think about | |
| 25 pounds in a 55 | |
