First tank!

Still in the research and decision process for my first tank.
Planning on doing either a 100g or 125g. Most likely going with
African cichlids but still interested in American cichlids as
well. I haven't even started my first tank and I already see
myself getting a second. Looking to get a Fluval fx6 filter.
Hoping it should be enough by itself for a 125g full of peacocks
and haps. Probably going with 2 of the ViaAqua titanium 300W
heaters. For lighting I'm looking at either the marineland or
aqueon LEDs. I loved the backgrounds from universal rocks so I
want to try and get one of those as well. I'm starting to get
some of the things required for the hobby but will wait to get
the tank and fish last. Moving in February so I figured it would
be better on the fish and tank to not have to be moved shortly
after setup. Let me know what you think about the setup list.
Really looking forward to getting into this hobby. I'll update
once I get things up and running.

Just got a call from one of my local fish stores. I somehow
managed to win a raffle they had for a 100g tank/stand/canopy
setup. Now I can put that money into filtration and fish.

LUCKY! for the 100 gallon, it depends on what haps/peacocks your
gonna get. some get really big. do your research and find out
the size the fish will get. If getting some of the larger haps
(8+ inches) i would only keep about 10-12 in a 100 gallon. or
you can just get more and upgrade to larger tank later. thats
just me though, some people may put more or less. the fx6 should
be adequate for a 100 gallon tank. i would add a hob or sponge
just to aid in some mech filtration. i have the marineland
double bright leds with no probs. good luck with your project!
