| My immersed setup | |

| Approximately 12 weeks ago, I started my first 'planted' tank. | |
| Working from a budget, I decided to start with an immersed | |
| setup. This gives me some additional time to fill my 'budget | |
| can', and to allow my carpeting plants get a strong start before | |
| flooding the tank. | |
| I really wish I took more pictures showing the growth I've | |
| achieved in this 'dry start' method. I'll let the pictures do | |
| most of the talking..... | |
| First planting - It all starts with Petsmart's packaged | |
| culture's of Staurogyne Repens | |

| And now, today after a very patient 12 weeks later, and an | |
| addition or two of more plants, here's where I am now. | |

| Nice tank. What type of lighting and substrate are you using? I | |
| am in the process of planning a small 20 gallon long planted | |
| tank on a very limited budget. | |

| I'm following Dustin's lessons. | |
| I purchased his ''Dirted Tank | |
| http://dustinsfishtanks.com/aquarium-product/dirted-tank-bundle/'<br | |
| />guide. The only small difference is I went with an immersed | |
| setup to give my carpet of s. repens a extra start. | |
| Using good ol' Miracle Gro organic potting mix, with | |
| Black-diamond blasting sand for a cap. | |
| My light is a sub $100 Odyssey quad T5HO fixture off e-bay. | |
| (topdogsellers) | |
| Best of luck in your own planted tank. Be sure to take | |
| pictures! | |
