05 z400 carb question please

I am new to the site and I am buying my son a Banshee next week
and the guy also has a very clean LT-Z400 I am going to buy
myself for $800.00. after looking at it I noticed it had a cv
carburetor on it and that is not going to work for me. And after
searching forums and websites I have found myself in you good
peoples graces. I use to run 4 individual dirt bike carbs
(Mikunis) on my pro stock Suzuki drag bike. This was in the
80s around the time the flat slides started to come on the
scene. I know someone on this site knows just what I need to
make this work for me with a flat or round slide Mikuni or
Kienen carburetor. Please help with a kit or jet size, anything
to point me in the right direction. I cant let that him on that
Banshee be faster than me. Thank for your help in advance.
Peace.

A flat slide or any type of carb is not going to make the Z400 a
Banshee killer, especially if the Banshee is stock with just a
good set of pipes. I would leave the stock carb on the Z400.
If you plan on beating the Banshee you probably need to pass on
buying the Z400 and buy something that has more potential for
making a lot of power

I second what MotorGeek said. my stock is LT 250r lined up next
to our 03 z400 is a blow out. I don't feel that my 250r would be
much of a challenge for even a stock banshee. Any 450, or a big
bore bike like a DS650 would be better.
As for changing out carbs on a LTZ400 I wouldn't, the stock carb
is great on a stock to med built z400. plus I don't think you
would gain much by changing it.

Yea I was just kidding about beating the Banshee but I know that
any carburetor would be better than a CV carburetor as far as
performance goes. A CV carburetors slide opens on vacuum and I
am looking for someone that has done the upgrade of installing a
flat or round slide carb on the z400. Thanks for the input guys
but I need someone who has done this upgrade for a little
direction in the matter. Thanks again. Peace.
