Road to our new Home (Luke and Mark)

During this awful pandemic Luke and Mark started to lose that
once close relationship they once had
Mark used to look up to his father and hang on his every Call to
him. Mark recently picked up the Hobby
of the paranormal arts and he has experimenting but not
succesfully with the Wegi Board Last time he tried
that his Pops Spelled out Spanking for him and that was last
time I played with it (although i have packed it just in
case i get bored and want to conjour up a old teacher or someone
in the family who owes me on back Birthdays
I saved up and started to read how to do amateur Paranormal
readings by using sound recorder
and spreading white baby powden in the hallways of rooms i was
not going into.... Dad walked in that
room and tripped and fell into the Mixture and i thought i had
seen a ghost
Nope it was Dad covering in Baby powder and i tried to make
light of it (he decided to give me the spanking of my
Ten year life and I had to premise him to stop with this
nonsense of Paranormal stuff or he was going to make
my hiney disappear
Fast forward on our adventure to Colorado on Dad;'s Interview at
the Stanley Hotel.. I smiled when i heard about it
and I surprised him when i did not throw a fit about moving .
It was not the most ideal spot and i was moving away
from bad friends... Bad naughty friends as they always got in
trouble... They never got in trouble like i did
and i always questioned him about it "HE just told me "Well I
am your Father and i am not theirs"
I picked up the table and pulled up Stanley/Overlook Hotel and
read about the reviews
Ghost tours. Ghost Rooms.. and yes the myths about :Strange
Shenanigans that go bump
on the night
I made sure i hid these things from him and i was sure the
person doing the interview would not bring things
up. They didn't want to lose potential clients and workers
I am sure he will find out about the Stanley himself and it will
be to late to turn around

The last few years had been rough on Luke and his young son,
Mark. When he first retired from the military, life went well
for him and his family. He had a good job heading up the
maintenance department of a prestigious hotel chain. Working
part time as security. He and Mark, had a close relationship.
Then after Mark's mother passed thing were just not the same.
From years of training he repressed his emotions, telling
himself he needed to be strong for mark's sake. But, a darkness
formed around his repressed emotions, causing a slight riff
between him and Mark. He still loved his son more then life, but
that special closeness that shared did not seem to be there
anymore.
His closest friends told him, he needed to sell the house,
move away and leave the past in the past. Luke, thought for a
long while about doing just that.But kept thinking that it would
not be fare to Mark to up root him, take him away from
everything he knew. But on second thought it may be best for
Mark. The hoodlums he has started hanging with were leading him
down a dark road, and his redicules interest in the paranormal,
supernatural crap was going to get me killed. He chuckled at the
memory of the powder incident. Slipping and falling, covered in
baby powder. Giving Mark the bare bottom spanking/ paddling of
his young life. But it was at that point he made his choice. He
found and ad for a maintenance person with experience in all
aspects of hotel/motel maintenance, Grounds keeping, and a
knowlege of hotel/motel management.
He sent in his application and with in a week he recieved a
letter for a face to face interview. The next day he put his
house on the marked, Quit his job and started packing. Now came
the hard part. Telling Mark, they were moving. He was rather
suprised at how well his son took the new. But relieved he was
open to the move..........................
His thoughts were interrupted, as he saw the "Welcome to Estes
Col." Looking over to his son who was busy reading his tablet.
Well, we are almost there. Mark. I know you promised me you
would give up all that supernatural garbage. But please, let me
tell you, I do not wanna hear anything about Creepy looking,
Ghost, paranormal activity, strange noises, or anything like
that. Do not wander off asking staffers silly questions about
unexplained activity. No talk of supernatural or paranormal
garbage. Kapeis
A little while later they parked in the hotel parking.

( Not sure if ready for me or not yet but will just do it this
way and then will wait until you get inside)
Looking at the application one last time knowing he should be
there shortly. Going into the lobby. " Maddie there should be a
gentleman coming in sometime today. His name is Luke ? When
he gets here go ahead and send him to my office. If I am not
mistaken there will also be a young boy with him If you would
please show him the play area and keep an eye out. Just like you
would if one of mine were out there and I was busy."

Mark sign of adventure has always been something his Dad always
Loathed
I think he expected Mark to sit in his room and play with his
Cars and watch Cartoons. His interest in the paranormal arts
begas after his Mom's death as he wanted answers to the
unanswered questions. (why did she die (Did she still love him
when she past away ) He has studies the weegie board and even
though it was packed away it was someplace his father
was not going to find it. He was looking at he layout of the
hotel when he noticed the hedge maze that was in the back of
it and immedioately wanted to see it.
Mark and His Dad like to go to the Halloween ones but sometimes
Dad's lack of believability and hating horror movies
always pissed on his haunted hay rides or his corn maze
exploring
Once inside we went up to the middle where this yojung girl was
at.
I put my hand in my Father cup of hi hand and says "Go get him
Dad" your going to knock them dead
I mean your gong to hit a Home Run not wanting to give away
mark's excitement of being here
The MCbains are here to take over the Maintenance department i
say very proudly

I was working finishing up my shift when Ms Jennifer asked me to
help me with a new Interview
I hope this one sticks its seems like everytime we hire someone
they leave and go awol on us
Hello Mr McBain Ms Jennifer said she see you in her office I can
you there right now
Hello Their young man once i am done showing your Dad where to
go I will be back and we can head over to
the arcade area and i can give you complimentary tokens to play
with
Maddie was so sweet and knew her job really well walked the Big
strong cute looking man down th
hall and said "Ms Jen Monster I mean Miss Jennifer will see you
in her office and i will take good care
of your son while your in your meeting

Getting out of the car, Luke gave a quick look over of the
hotel and grounds. "Impressive. I had expected it to be a bit
more worn and run down looking. But the owner seems to take
great pride in his establishment. The building doesn't look
anywhere near its age." He thought to himself.
Taking Mark by the hand, they walked through the entry into
lobby. Luke was awed by the shear grandness and old world
beauty. Looking down at Mark. "Impressive, isn't it son. This is
how a hotel should look and feel."
As they walked through the lobby, a young woman looking to be
no more then 18, greeted them. "Hello Mr McBain Ms Jennifer said
she see you in her office I can you there right now." Then she
addressed Mark. "
Hello Their young man once i am done showing your Dad where to
go I will be back and we can head over to the arcade area and i
can give you complimentary tokens to play with."
Luke. knelt down to looking Mark in the eyes. "Remember your
promise, son. Nothing about paranormal or supernatural things.
No wandering off to explore. Behave yourself for Miss Mattie.
When I am done with the interview we will get some lunch." He
said as he ruffled Marks hair. "Go get him Dad" your going to
knock them dead... I mean your gong to hit a Home Run.The
McBains are here to take over the Maintenance department." Mark,
exclaimed. Luke, gave his son a bright smile and hugged him.
"Your darn right we are son." Pointing to a chair. "Now please
sit right there and wait for Mattie to come back for you."
Luke followed Mattie. The girl was very attractive.......or as
the kids say today... Supe cutes. Suprisingly for her age she
seemed to have a maturity and a professionalism of an older
person...Though her reference to Miss Jennifer as Jen monster,
showed she still needed learn respect for her superiors and
elders. Stopping infront of an office door. Luke, thanked the
young woman. Watching her walk away....................mentally
slapping himself on the head. "Enough of that old fool. Girls
young enough to be your daughter." he reprimanded himself.
Taking a cleansing breath. He knocked on the door

Hearing the knock on the door Jennifer goes over to open it. As
she extends her hand out.
" Mr. Luke McBain I take it. I am Jennifer Davis and the manager
of this place. It is nice to meet you and do come in and have a
seat so we can visit for a bit. I do have a pot of coffee ready
if you would like one or if you would rather have something else
I will be glad to get Maddie to bring it to us. I take it like
normal she did a good job and got you to the office and is now
taking care of your son. She is wonderful with them. For her
age and for the way she was when she first came to work here has
for sure grown up and I trust her with my own 2 so know she will
make him fall in love with her and if this does work she is a
great baby sitter."

Mark waited for Maddie to return
He stood up and before she can continue interupted her with "hey
foxy lady why don't you
Keep those coins and show me where the real action is
"I was talking about your hedge maxe? Care to give me a guided
tour? I know your brochure said it's closed to this covid and
figured best to go now before the new season starts

Entering the office Luke was greeted a very attractive
woman,introducing her self as the hotel manager. Taking her
offered hand, he gave a slight bow. " My pleasure Mrs. Davis.
Yes, that would be me. Luke McBain. Luke will do just fine."
Giving the office a quick scan. "Neat. Organized. Functional.
Gal is professional. organized, expects no less from her staff.
If she is as smart and quick, as she is professional and
organized. It will be smooth sailing for this hotel, the staff
and the hotel guest." He thought.
"Coffee, will be just fine. Thank you." Going to the coffee
urn. "Would you like a cup as well Mrs. Davis." He poured two
cup took them to the coffee table, then took a seat."Maddie?
Nice girl. Very lovely. Suprisingly she showed a level of
maturity and professionalism one would never expect from a
person of her young age. You did well with that one. If she can
deal with Mark.....thats my son....for the length of this
interview. I might hire her full time." he said with a grin.
Sitting back in his seat, feeling rather relaxed, his sipped his
coffee. Waiting for the interview to start.

Taking the coffee for him as she grins a bit for the first time.
One thing he employees and Mr. Stanley know is she does like to
kid around at time and even when interviewing she uses it to see
peoples reaction.
" What are you doing here trying to butter me up bringing me a
cup? You think you are going to steal Maddie from me you think I
again I could not even think of running this place without her."
As she takes a drink of the coffee and looks at the application.
"Well Luke I see here that you do have experience in this
business. I am in really in need of a experience matience man.
But one thing that does bother me a bit and I am more then
willing to listen to you. I see here that you have pretty well
been at one place and are moving here. How can I be sure that
you will decide you or your son tell you he does not like it and
you move back? As i said before I do have 2 of my own and know
how they do not like lots of change and move is hard on them."
