The One That Got Away [OPEN]

The streets of Robotropolis were alive in the night as always,
the incessant pollution of unnatural light keeping the roads and
walks illuminated for all to see. Clubgoers, crooks and
delinquents of all colors coursed through the city's veins, only
kept debatably manageable by the patrols of SWAT-Bots that only
could slightly cull the locale's crime free-for-all. It was a
spawning pit for chaos, and through the harsh shadows and
contrasting glares of neon color that painted the passageways
between towering skyscrapers and other establishments came it's
newest offspring. Garb dark, and adorned in broken straps and
belts, a hare of ashen color cut through the nightlife with a
cold and lifeless scowl. His one-piece attire had a leathery
sheen in the abundance of lights, and plastered on the back was
the bold white Eggman Empire logo.
Suddenly, a shout echoed over the usual street noises nearby as
people began to scatter from the incoming squad of SWAT-bots
rushing the lapin fellow's position. "Escapee detected; moving
to neutralize" one buzzed, eye flickering with it's synthesized
speech as it's team moved into position - weapons at the ready.
The oddly dressed rabbit stopped in his tracks and glared back
at the machines coming at him from his right side on the street
before wordlessly he snatched the pistols hanging from his
thighs into his grip and opened fire on the nearest SWAT-Bot,
the reports of his .45 rounds causing more panic in the area as
anyone who hadn't already legged it dove to the ground. The Bots
were quick to return fire, lasers raining over Frown's position
as he began to move with a steady but swift pace, even with
beams passing mere feet from his body threatening to fry him.
The SWAT's spread out as their more unfortunate member was left
at the rabbit's mercy, or lack there-of as he broke into a
sprint and slid between the bot's legs, causing it to look down
and scorch the street below with a few hopeful shots. Frown
popped up behind the SWAT-Bot with his back against its, turning
along with it as it tried to rotate around to see him; The
machine reaching around and firing it's weapon at arm's length
while spinning trying to find its target, only to knock a fresh
hole through one of its own squad-mates, which fell to the
ground, sparking and useless.
Meanwhile the remaining two opened fire despite their own member
being easily within the crossfire, scoring shots on the already
damaged Bot, and while the Bot took the shots for him, Frown
quickly ejected his magazines, swapping them for a fresh pair to
refill his handguns just in time to pivot into view of the two
other bots as he traded shots with them, aiming either hand at
them as he let his armor piercing ammunition rip a handful of
holes into either badnik before folding his arms to point both
of his weapons back into the body of the SWAT he was still
back-to-back with, giving it a few point-blank shots before
walking away a few steps and turning on his heel to unload the
rest of his rounds into the machine's head as sparks and arcs of
lighting flew from the impacts and sudden damage to it's inner
workings and impact of hard metal on hard metal.
With a cursory glance around, Frown took a moment to reload his
weapons again, starting to make his way in the direction he was
originally headed, but he had a feeling that trouble was gonna
be all over him now. This was only the beginning of tonight's
turmoil, he just knew it.

More SWAT-Bots dashed toward the lapine's position as he made
his escape, a group of five or so rushed through the illuminated
streets. The fierce blare of their mono eye'd light trailing
behind them as they sprint. The rabbit would definitely be able
to hear the heavy sounds of metal footsteps echoing close by.
The squad fanned out as soon as Smile had been caught in their
sights to form a half circle formation. "DO NOT MOVE.
ELIMINATION IN PROGRESS" The electronic voice of the center most
one droned as each swatbot aimed their weapons on them. The
ionized smell of plasma filled the air as those guns hummed to
life. Each fired on the Rabbit sending a volley his way.
A figure, not too far off, watched from the roof of a building.
It was wearing a cloak to obscure itself but given it's size
they were definitely a mobian. They had been watching the Rabbit
for some time before finally deciding to step into his fray.
One of the robots that was firing would let out a electronic
hiss as a heavy cloak was dropped on it to obscure it's vision.
The others would stop their volley on Smile to turn as a
newcomer hit the ground behind them. The leader's eye trailed
over the white armor that the mobian had worn as it tried to
identify him behind his dark visor. The interloper smirked,
showing off one of his pointy canines as a bright surge of
energy started to radiate around it.
"Spectrum Shift...RED!" The cat cried out as his visor suddenly
turned red. A flood of red light filled the inlays of his armor
as Chroma the Cat made himself known with a flash of scarlet
light. He smirked heroically before shifting into a ready
stance.
"Let's do it!"

It wasn't hard for those rabbit ears to pick up on the heavy
clanking of more SWAT-Bots headed his way. He was already
certain the commotion had brought more than a little attention
his way, especially with Bots getting scrapped in an open
firefight. Frown's attire also probably didn't help. He broke
into a run for a short time only to be caught up with and
surrounded on one side. The hostile machine's demand only made
him scowl further as he glanced around, weapons still in-hand as
his thoughts raced. He ducked sharply as a few shots barely
missed the chance to melt the rabbit's head off of his
shoulders, diving into a roll across the asphalt as more plasma
blasted and scorched the ground and objects around him - one
tagging one of his loose straps as it hissed and melted off a
few more inches from the torn material hanging from his arms,
giving way to the wind as the ashes scattered.
That was when he heard something flutter, something heavy, like
thick cloth. He turned sharply from his knelt landing to see one
of the SWAT-Bots struggling under a cloak; the machine grabbing
at it's own face to try and rid itself of the cloth obstacle,
and to the rabbit's luck this seemed to distract the others as
well.
Frown had no idea who he was looking at, but given their
entrance and manner, he could only assume they intended to help.
He had no plans of stopping them.
The Bot under the cloth finally threw the cloak off of it's head
- "DO NOT RESI-" it started, only to be immediately opened up on
by Frown who plugged the machine's metal head with a few rounds,
reigniting the firefight as the SWAT-Bots returned fire on Frown
and now his unexpected cooperator. Frown hunched low and rushed
around behind a nearby car, beams of plasma chewing holes in the
metal carapace of the vehicle and blasting out windows, forcing
the rabbit to keep low as he only shortly popped up to let a few
rounds fly in hopes of holding their attention while the
newcomer did... Whatever he was about to do.

"C'mon!" The cat urged the bots with a playful smirk before he
rushed forward. The SWAT Bots trained on him began to unload a
volley of plasma bolts his way but he seemed to weave through
them with his sprint. "Let's see how big of a chain we can get!"
The cat laughed before jumping into the air. His body erupted in
a vibrant aura of red and white light before he dashed toward
the nearest bot like a crimson comet. A thunderous explosion
rocked the night sky as the cat slammed his shoulder to utterly
smash the bot. The resulting force of the attack sent him high
into the air with a spiraling flip. "There's one...Now how
about... TWO!" He called out before chain dashing into the next
one, again creating another explosion as he effortlessly
barreled into it. "GET READY FOR THE FINALE!" He cried out one
last time before chain dashing toward the last one. This time
however, he rolled into a kick before colliding with it.
"YAH-HO!~" He cheered out, the force of the divekick causing the
bot to crumble back allowing Chroma to use the momentum to ride
on the battered mechanical menace like a board. He jumped and
punted it away before skidding backward so he could line back to
back with the armed rabbit.
"Thee guys are WAY different than Jet's Ink Blots. Glad I could
still help!" The boy chimed in, flashing a smirk and a thumbs
up. "Why they chasing you anyway?"

With the sound of blasts and the street shaking under his feet,
the rabbit stayed in cover, only peeking out from behind the
battered car he'd taken cover behind as he lowered his weapons
and watched Chroma singlehandedly obliterate the remaining
SWAT-Bots one after the other. This cat definitely had him
curious.

With the battle subsided for now, Frown stood up and noted that
he was now nearly back to back with Chroma, his flat expression
masking his inquisitive stare as he peered over his shoulder to
the armored feline, his own questions forming, but the youthful
hero spoke first. The rabbit clicked the safety onto either of
his weapons and holstered them in a brief pause before his voice
emerged to reply. "I don't think they take too well to prisoners
escaping Eggman's roboticization facilities. Even if that escape
was..." he furrowed his brow as he thought about the passage of
time, it had all kind of muddled together in his distress.
"...Probably more than a year ago now." he finished his answer;
demeanor flat. He turned around to face the cat, his pink irises
gleaming in the harsh shadows and glaring artificial light of
the streets. "Thanks for your help I guess." he added, starting
to step around the other mobian now to resume his path. "It'd be
wise to get out of the city, especially if those SWAT-Bots
decide to make a habit of sending squads our way, we won't last
long." he stopped and glanced back to Chroma, wondering if they
would follow.

"We need to get out of here fast yeah? Let me just shift real
quick." Chroma nodded, before extending a hand in front of him.
His eyes closed behind that reflective visor as a surge of cool
blue energy enveloped his form creating a sparking aura.
"Spectrum Shift: BLUE!" He called out, as his armor sparked and
lit up with a blue light. "Heh... Here we go...I should be able
to move faster with this!" He declared throwing a few high speed
punches. "What were you talking about with robtoicization? That
sounds a little scary..." He commented before crossing his arms
behind his head in a relaxed manner.
