Query re legality
By: Pauli 1 Date: October 9, 2014, 7:25 am

Just looking for opinions. I have asked 2 dealers and got 2
different answers on the same question.
I live in the sticks. House on about 1 acre, with a large back
garden. Beyond the garden is 400-500 acres of open farmland.
If I am on my own land, can I shoot over the adjacent farmland?
I suppose I could break this into 2 questions. Would it be
legal to shoot airborne targets flying over the land, and/ or
would it be legal to shoot targets on the land, i.e. rabbits
foxes etc, again providing I am on my own property.
I should add, there are no residential properties within the
field of view I am talking about.
One dealer told me it was fine, as I was shooting from my own
land, another told me no.
My feeling is, none owns the air above, but there might be a
question about shooting land based targets?
Whats your thoughts? btw, the farmer is odd as sin, so
approaching him is a no no. I would in visage using a silenced
rifle as well, so there wouldn't be a noise issue.

The answer is most definitely no. You cannot shoot onto land
that you do not have permission on. No projectiles are allowed
to stray beyond the boundary of the land you are permitted to
shoot on.

Probably, but if that's the case you need to ask yourself what
else is dodgey about the dealer? Really interested to know who
it is, but we may be dealing with a troll here.

Whos' the troll? >:(
This was one of the major dealers here. I will clarify my
question with him again in case he misinterpreted it. But I
don't know how he could have. This would certainly not be seen
as a "dodgy dealer" I would have thought.
Also, this has put another question in my head. What if you are
shooting at the edge of the land you have permission on, and
your shot goes over adjacent land, say a field, is that breaking
the law?
