| Cheers! Aye started loading 55g hollow points with varget, going | |
| approx 2600 fps. Not totally happy with the performance of them, | |
| they're very accurate up to 300 yards but doesn't seem to be | |
| knocking foxes down cleanly all the time, so ill be going for a | |
| lighter ballistic tip bullet with a faster fps; having said that | |
| they were the first rounds I worked up so still experimenting | |
| lol | |

| Have you tried any lighter factory ammo through her in the past? | |

| Yeah I've used 40 grain vmax and they were great; also mixed up | |
| about a dozen 40grain rounds, both high power and low power | |
| (about 2000fps) and they gave good results, but went with 55g to | |
| start with thinking they'd buck the wind better, but defo not | |
| impressed (foxes anyway) | |

| I'm lookin at centrefires at the minute for the odd fox and | |
| small vermin. Would really like a .204, because of the lighter | |
| rounds, but going by the guntrader/gunstar you could pick up a | |
| complete .222 set up for very handy money. Not sure what to do. | |

| Well.... personally, as this is just me, I'd go for a .222/.223. | |
| The .222 is very forgiving with reloading, I read that it'll | |
| shoot nearly anything accurately, .223 can be a bit fussier but | |
| can handle heavier rounds depending on the twist rate, also more | |
| factory ammo and guns available. I wouldn't go for a .204 | |
| myself, heard great things about them but the biggest problem | |
| with long range shooting (which seems to be why most people want | |
| one) isn't drop it's reading the wind, I'd rather have a heavier | |
| bullet I can easily compensate for drop with than a light bullet | |
| pissing all over the place in the wind (which I've read about | |
| with the .204). Agin I havnt used it so only goin on what I've | |
| read and experience with other calibres. | |
| for a new calibre/type of gun i usually get a cheap 2nd hand set | |
| up first, gives me a chance to evaluate what I actually | |
| want/need from that kind of gun without dropping big money on a | |
| new one (and losing alot of cash when i find out it doesn't do | |
| what I need ffs). I've done it with shotguns, 22s, air rifles, | |
| etc, but again that's just my opinions and the way I do things! | |
| :) | |

| Aye, you know what p/x values are like............ and if you | |
| pick a tidy secondhand one up, you've got a few quid left over | |
| for your reloading gear. | |
