Don't hold your breath........you won't get into the club unless
you know, and I mean really know, other members of the club or
clubs. Why would they take anyone unless your "in with them".
Good luck to them, they are the ones who feed and look after the
duck sites, they know the peril of strangers and they don't want
guys who just want to shoot ducks. I remember years ago one of
these clubs had a stand at the GameFair. " Can I join cos, like
, your here looking for members and advertising yourself an
all?" "Sure, just give us your name and telephone number and
well get back to ye". "Ye won't forget will ye". Nahhhhhh

Therin lies the problem with shooting as a sport. Childish the
lot of it. Some of these places are so inwards it's laughable. I
can understand there are a lot of people out there who just want
to shoot and not make a contribution, and I know that shooting
and conservation need to remain close, but this whole nonsense
of having a monopoly on prime shooting ground, and making sure
to only invite mates and mates of mates is absolutely
ridiculous. The shooting community are their own worst enemy
sometimes.
You could debate the pros and cons of letting strangers in all
day long, but there are genuine sportsmen that are being denied
the chance to partake in what they enjoy because of the closed,
tight knit associations over here. You're better off without
them. Next time you're talking to one of these fellas, tell them
about your access to a privately owned 4 acre lake in
Crawfordsburn where the ducks are imported from the world famous
Lake Michigan, and flown over on private jets with built in duck
pampering facilities.
