Skeet Gun

Further to my other post in this section regarding my Miroku 800
26" [skeet and skeet] I don't think I can bring myself to change
this wee gun. I currently use 32g No. 6's - would a change to
5's 32g make much of a difference for reaching out a bit
further?

I think its the way to go if the gun fits you with skeet an
skeet it should shot well with steel shot don't be afared to try
it

The only thing limiting your range regards you choke is pattern
density. My moving to a #5 of the same load ie 32gm you are
further decreasing the number of pellets in you pattern and
creating more "gaps" as such. Depending what you shooting of
course you should seriously consider moving to a size 7 in 32gm.
If its pigeons then a 28gm 7 1/2 is more than capable of clean
kills to 40 yards. If you wish to stick with larger shot sizes
for whatever reason then increase the load to 34gm or 36 if you
can stick the recoil. I shoot almost everything with 1/4 choke
which is only 1 step (5 thousands of an inch) tighter than
skeet. You can make any gun perform with the right shell. What
are you wishing to shoot with it.

There are lots of pheasants on the lands I shoot and I just
thought the heavier shells would have a bit more stopping power
- I take your point though regarding pattern density.

I shot a 3800SW Skeet gun for everything in the fields for two
years about three years ago and only it was soo good a boy
pressured me into selling it hence my green/blue Sportin Clays,
I remember shootin 32grm Diana SuperSpeed 6's from pigeons &
woodcock to ducks & pheasants and it worked perfectly for me and
it was Skeet & Skeet choked.
