The Main Thread

This is my... how many mods has it been already? :P
Anyway, this is my most recent mod, Hope of Shan�.

NOTE: this mod won't have any ASM hacks.
[spoiler=Original post]This is my newest mod.
So far, the protagonist is sprited (although not shaded - that'd
take forever :P ) and the first caves are finished, with
monsters still missing. Unfortunately, however, they were hard
to shade - but I did it anyway.
Frost, Ember, Spark and Toxin (as they shall be called from here
on out, unless I'm referring to them all, in which case it will
be Hope of Shan�) is basically the same mod with differences.
Planned differences:

[li]Frost starts in a frozen cave, while Ember starts in a
burning cave. Spark starts in a shocking cave and Toxin starts
in a cave full of toxic gases.[/li]
[li]Frost has a different weapon set than in Ember and Spark and
Toxin.[/li]
[li]In Frost the protagonist dresses warmly while it is the
opposite in Ember. In Spark, well, the members of the SCS Forums
decide her outfit :P
Dunno about Toxin though.[/li]
[li]Frost has different enemies that relate to ice at some
points, while Ember has different enemies that relate to fire at
some points. Spark has foes that relate to electricity. Toxin
has foes related to poison.[/li]

Right now, I'm working ONLY on Frost. Once I'm done with Frost I
will work on Ember, and after that, Spark, and after that,
Toxin. Then that's that, I guess.
Like I said: it's the same mod with differences.

Wayne the Mixolf has guessed the name of the character who saves
Shan�, correctly: the Purple Karjam. While the bosses are still
unknown at the time I’m writing this, they’ll be
near their versions’ Caverns: Frost's boss will be at the
Frost Caverns, and Ember's boss will be at Ember Caverns.
...
Anyway, I've got permission to use some ORGs in the mods.
The Boss Name for Spark will be named by a TV Tropes member.

So, I figured I have to stop being so lazy and that I have to
keep myself busy (I've gotten bored with playing video games
now). :P
I'm working on this mod again. I already asked this at the SCS
Forums, but... could somebody play through the mod and try to
hunt glitches, please? I already know of the following things
that I must do:
= Make intro more interesting (it is pretty boring though)
= Keep "controls.txt" but add notification somewhere (this is
for those who don't know how to play Cave Story)
= Do NOT add text in "face.bmp"
= Keep the inconsistent art (deliberately; adds to the weirdness
in that the caves are not really there but rather a figment of
Shan�'s personalities).
= Give reason for boring town layout (caused by Frost Caverns
appearing)
= Make townsfolk a bit more interesting (they are BORING)
= Fix door glitch behind Zexion (the greyish-steel-blue-haired
guy)
= Get other people to help out with dialogue for mod (as
everyone shows little emotion)... but I'll do that before
release.
= Make protagonist note how the people attempt to be comedic
while a darker and edgier quest is looming ahead. Breaking the
fourth wall? That's merely Shan�'s personalities not noticing
what's going on.
= Add a way out of the water trap in Town, pre-Invasion. After
the Invasion begins it's possible to walk on the water.
= There's an extra space between "Shan�" and "Lambrechts" -
causing the "s" to be on a new line.
= Shan�'s home is inside the gate, not outside.
= Treasure chest with Keyblade is in the air once opened.
Also, so far the giant Critter boss works fine (in terms of
sprites). The Mystery Mines are going to be pretty boring
though, as there's also very little platforming. There's a
reason for this: the miners were lazy. :P
I have yet to fix all those things, though, and add enemies and
puzzles to the Mystery Mines. And then, after the Critter Boss
is defeated, make it even harder by making it fall apart
In other words, after beating the boss, you can't access the
Mystery Mines again once you leave it. That's the plan, at
least. :)
As for town not being very platform-ish, it was rebuilt in three
Sylraphian days and in a hurry. 1 Sylraphian day is basically 96
Earth hours. Building a town in about 288 hours in a hurry isn't
a good idea though... :-\
Oh yeah, a question:
What looks weird about the small Critters of the Invasion?
(The answer can be seen in the current version. ;) )

Sort of... the Critter boss will probably explain what's with
it, but if you want to give a reason for why, feel free to!
... I have no idea why. :P

First post has been updated with a download link for Version 0.1
of Frost.
Also, all versions of Frost will now be in Greek Letters (i.e.
version 0.2 will now be version β instead).
In other words, version 0.1 is version α instead. :P
This is because the Starry Skies area will have Greek letters
themselves.

I've got bad news regarding the mod. No, it's not cancelled, but
a part of it is.
The credits part of the mod is cancelled. After I edited it,
somehow it resulted in a buffer overflow, despite the original
Credits file being larger than the current one. As such, this
mod won't have end credits at all. Instead, all people will be
credited in the "Readme.txt" file (as they always will be in my
mods).
So for those of you who wanted to see characters in the
credits... sorry.
Note, of course, that this doesn't mean anything regarding the
characters representing you. The characters representing people
(Sousuke Sagara, Reverie, etc.) will still appear in the mod,
with their side quests, and so on.
Of course, this forces me to make a wiki of sorts for the
characters, so that their knowledge is known and that people get
information about them and so on.
Said "wiki" will be at these very forums, using a special
subforum I've made for it.
Feel free to work on it in your spare time, if you want to. It's
there just for information regarding the characters, and so on.

You guys can work on it as releases come and go. After all, the
Wiki subforums are supposed to be allowed to let anyone (except
guests) edit them.
Also, does anyone see a "new" thing if a post in a thread (like
the Change Log) is edited?
