Looks like you 'd benefit from a period looking vessel to pump
cooland through.
Maybe a large rivetted cylinder or similar.

normal, mistaken.

Were I a younger man , that would have an Ashbourne look about
it !
Dragged one off a farm above Dovedale 40 odd years ago, it ran a
generator and a milking machine pump and had a no - load
solenoid to shut it down when they switched the last light off
at night.
I think you've done well to get it complete wi't rocker cover.
