The BIG Bus 1967 109.

Sooooo after selling the 2cv I needed a replacement to run along
side the 80. In the last year or so I have been using the 80
(the Bus) more and more, defeating the point of owning the
Citroen in the first place. Having owned the 2cv for about 5
years and loving every minute, it was time to go as they HATE
salty roads in winter and you could see it dissolve in front of
you.
After deciding to go for a 109 I found a tropical roofed van on
t'web in Scotland complete with OD, Turner drum winch and what
turned out to be a very tired and smokey 2.25D. Having sent and
received a few texts, emails and lots of photos I caught the
train north to pick it up for a whopping 2500, the same money I
sold the Citroen for! The road trip back was a long and
interesting one, finding out all its "quirks".
Having owned it for a good few months now and after a 200Tdi
swap and some proper seats fitted with built in belts for the
kids in the back, its been pressed into service to run alongside
the 80 as my only transport. I got it into work on a ramp to
underseal it all before winter and the chassis is like new and
the bulkhead is very solid. All in all it owes me 3500 after
the engine swap. Its first proper outing apart from the work and
school run was to Wales on a camping and Mountain biking weekend
a few weeks back returning about 34MPG-

I have a long list of upgrades and bits I want to do to it to
make it really usable and as economical (as much as a 109 can
be) as possible with a few individual touches too.
Watch this space.
