Ok so we had a great time a shell island, can`t wait for next
year and hopefully I`ll have my trailer restored by then so we
can bring a fire pit and wood.
however we have a problem in that the gearbox threw a wobbly
just north of Wrexham on the way back home, 3rd and 4th gear
sound like there about to go into orbit so we nursed her back
over the peaks and moors with second gear but she got us home
and I cant ask any more of 50+ year old truck really.
so do I get the box and strip it or do I find a replacement box
?
Cheers Chris

Now I'm not an engineer...
.. but I'd say it's got to be better to strip one gearbox done,
go through it properly and then re-build.
That way in the long run, you know everything is O.K. because
you've done it properly.
Does that make sense? I'd not have the confidence to open up a
L/R gearbox, but I think most 2ndhand boxes will have a
life-time's wear in them now.

I think thats the way I'm going to go to be honest as I know the
majority of this box is ok, I'll be dropping it out some time
this coming week. Looks like it will be kitchen floor
engineering again, the misses will be chpr FRSsml WHTF
finger......etc.. Wish me luck

What I did was rebuild a spare gearbox and swap that straight in

May just see if I can get another box and do the same as you
then Sam, at least I can keep her mobile if I need to.

Hello folks, it`s been a while again.
we had a great time at leafer`s and we head back North to
Cumberland via the Forest of Bowland and camped for one night,
my dads family came from Milliom in South Cumberland also that`s
were my Granddad is buried so we thought we`d pop over and say
hello.
We then headed up to Kendal and camped just up the road until
Saturday morning when we headed across to Masham and met up with
the Series 2 club on their run to Whitby which was quite
convenient for getting home.
