I don't have a cricut. I know very little about about Cricut.
But i found this article that seems like it could be a money
saver for those of you who do cricut.

Let me ask a question cricut users, can you only cut vinyl with
it? can you cut paper? After reading that article, I was just
wondering.

Paper for sure. Vinyl, fabric, frosting was added later.
That is an old article. I don't think SCAL works with the
cricut anymore. If you already had SCAL before the war, then
you are good.

I cut everything with mine,I use the multi cut feature alot and
am just getting used to the deep cut blade, that I purchased
recently. The author is right, if you look through the booklets
that come with each cartridge, you will find a lot of shapes
that you didn't know existed. I also am going to try her
re-sticky mat hint. I heard some place else to clean it off with
a baby wipe then apply the new sticky stuff. I know for me,the
thicker stuff needs more stick power to hold than the thinner
papers and stuff so this might help. If all else fails, I just
make multiple cuts of the same thing, then glue them together for
added dimension. I love learning new tricks, thanks!!

Yes clean first then re-sticky. I think they are stickier than
they were originally.
I also just cut with the deep cut blade. I never had any luck
with the regular blade.

What is the "war" that you are referring to? I don't use my
cricut often enough. I just cut out some flowers to try the
technique in your "DOH moment" post.
Just curious as to what kind of "war". When I initially heard
of the cricut, I thought it was all supposed to be via the
computer. I did not know it was seperate cartridges.

I'm not really familiar with the "war" first hand. But, you can
no longer get SCAL to work with your cricut. Provo Craft did
not like someone writing software to by-pass their cartridges.
Oh well.

My Cricut cuts paper got it for Christmas and I have been having
problems with it after the first month. I just changed the
blades so I am hoping it will finally cut through card
stock...Currently I am not impressed and I feel bad because my
husband spent all this money for the newest one and it is a
stressful disaster most of the time!! Thanks for the tips I am
definitely going to purchase the Zig 2 way glue with a chisel
tip all of my pads are losing their stick...I tried the baby
wipe trick it worked a little bit but did not last long!!

I was looking through to see if anyone had any info here about
cricut and found his old thread.
Have you all figured out how to get your cricuts working well?
Our group has the original cricut that we bought several yrs
back. it gets used by all of us and has made thousands of
letters , embellishments, little people, all kinds of
embellishments. Over the yr we have learned a few tricks of the
trade but its mostly just using it and learning.
This yr I got gift cards for a few different celebrations and I
was able to buy the newest cricut expression on sale. Its a
whole different way of cutting embellishments. More of a
computer.
