Outta nowhere!

(and as always, Im annoyed at the reference to SUNY Stony
Brook)

Wait...... WHAT!??!?!
So outta nowhere Stanley is gone just like that with no
warning?? I was loosely following what was going on there after
their old president got forced out over the handling of sexual
assault, but I didn't think they were looking at Stanley. It
just sucks when these moves come from out of nowhere like this.
It's a shame because I really liked Stanley and thought he was
good for the university and a supporter of athletics. I hope
whoever we hire as a replacement is the same, because getting
some stick up the @$$ academic type who is staunchly against
athletics would be terrible for the university and the campus
culture.

Stanley is pretty reviled amongst the current student base for
his handling of the budget and neglection of the Humanities
department. From what I gathered Kenny was even more
pro-athletics than Stanley was, so hopefully we get swung back
in that direction. I cant imagine that this school would
approve an anti-athletic president after all the money theyve
poured into it recently.

My youngest just graduated from SBU last week, and I was telling
everyone at the graduations how Stanley has been so instrumental
in elevating the status of the university academically and
athletically, and just like that he's gone! Huge blow to the
University, IMO. It'll be very interesting to see who they
bring in via national search.

MSU is very high profile so this sends a message as to the
quality of Dr. Stanley and bodes well for the talent pool that
applies for our own opening. I see a great upside for us in this
(although personally I wish he had stayed here at SBU).

Im sure the pay at MSU is double of what Stanley was making at
SB. Stanley made around $450,000 a year, plus $$ from private
boosters. The CEO of Brookhaven Hospital, now ( Long Island
Community) makes just shy of a Million. and LIC Hospital is a
small peanut regional Hospital.

I read and article that says his base salary will be $800k a
year with up to an additional $160k a year in bonuses. There's
also a discretionary bonus of $100k in there too I believe. With
all the scandal they had to put up serious coin to get someone
to step into that situation right now. Combined with the COL
difference, and Stanley is effectively making triple what he
made at SBU.

Looks like MSU taking big risk with athletics bringing in
Stanley and having an AD with no sports administration
experience. Interesting read.
