Donating to Athletics

Stony Brook has seen tremendous growth recently, both
academically and athletically, that would not have been possible
if not for very generous private donations to the university.
Obviously not all of our bank statements look like James Simons
or Glenn Dubin, but there are a lot more of us than there are
Simons or Dubins. I'm a Stony Brook student with part time a job
and I just gave my most recent pay check to he university (I
guess I'll hold off on drinking for the next couple weekends).
You won't find a Stony Brook press release about my gift, but if
we all give a little we'll know that the achievements we read
about on goseawolves.org were made possible by our gifts. This
is a really exciting time for Stony Brook and lets help continue
that success.

Its the annual SBU Giving Day! Please make a donation (if able
to) to WUSB and help our station continue to grow. Donating any
amount helps WUSB continue to grow its brand, sports coverage
and provide the amazing student-journalists broadcast
opportunities.

Statesman Sports Editor Mike Anderson asked me to share:
The Statesman is the largest student-run news organization that
has been serving the Stony Brook University community since
1958. We are the go-to source for anything Stony Brook related,
including sports and student life, with a team of student
writers and editors who work around the clock to deliver
breaking news on campus.
We've covered protests, changes in policy, human interest
stories and always strive to be a voice for the members of the
Stony Brook community. This past year, we delved into how the
Israel-Palestine conflict is playing out amongst students and
international communities; broke news on major changes made in
our athletics staff; and started producing three weekly
podcasts, ranging from advice for medical students to in-depth
analyses of university athletics.
Our writers have won awards at the local, state and national
level, and our content is ever-improving with support from our
community. This year alone, we continued to bring back printed
editions after the pandemic hiatus, rebuilt our advertising
relationship with local businesses and redesigned our website.
The response from our students, faculty, administration and
alumni has been overwhelming with positivity and support, but
this has not been an easy transition.
We need your help keeping our independent press alive.
To continue providing our award-winning coverage, we need donors
like you to help keep the independent press at Stony Brook alive
with up-to-date multimedia equipment, sending our writers to
cover important events in the community and keeping our student
workers employed.
The Statesman is vital to the Stony Brook campus. We provide
checks on school administration and student government, sharing
the stories of students whose voices are calling to be heard.
We hope you consider donating to our cause.
