Initial forecast: Entering last season, discerning eyes looked
to see how the Seawolves would replace 2024 Tewaaraton Award
finalist Ellie Masera. Casey Colbert, Charlotte Wilmoth, Riley
McDonald and Alexandra Fusco answered the bell on attack,
combining for 328 points, including 179 goals. (Colbert led SBU
with 57 assists and transferred to Boston College for a fifth
year.) The problem? All of them are gone. Isabella Caporuscio,
who produced 49 goals and 19 assists during her sophomore year,
stands to lead the offense.
The Seawolves are in better shape on the draw with rising junior
Braeden Siverson (110DC) back. Defensively, they�ll move on from
Avery Hines, a disruptor who caused a gaudy 74 turnovers in
2025. Former Limestone midfielder Reese Hjertaas (59G, 24A,
35DC, 16CT) should make an impact all over the field if she
seamlessly slides into Division I.
Ultimately, Stony Brook should be fine in the CAA (and their
primary foil, Drexel goalie Jenika Cuocco, transferred to
Northwestern). But the Seawolves uncharacteristically failed to
score a win over a Top-20 opponent until May (Loyola in the NCAA
tournament). The veterans are no doubt set to enter fall ball on
a mission to change that, but they�ll need help.

Ellie Masera Added to USA Roster for The World Games

addition of Ellie Masera to the USA roster for The World Games
2025, a quadrennial Olympic-style event that will feature
women�s lacrosse as a championship sport for the third time. The
lacrosse competition at The World Games, featuring the sixes
discipline, begins on Aug. 7 in Chengdu, China.
Masera was a member of the U.S. team that finished as the
runner-up to Canada at The World Games 2022 in Birmingham, Ala.
Masera finished second on the U.S. with 14 goals and 19 points
during the 2022 event and is the only returning player to this
year�s squad. She also participated with the U.S. team at the
USA Lacrosse Experience in Indianapolis last fall, scoring six
goals to help the U.S. post a perfect 3-0 record.
Masera, an assistant coach at Notre Dame last year, was a
two-time All-American at Stony Brook and a Tewaaraton finalist
in 2024. She played in Athletes Unlimited last summer and then
participated in the Women�s Lacrosse League All-Star game in
Kansas City earlier this year.

What a home lineup at LaValle for women's lax in '26!
5 teams from the top 38 of the final 2025 rankings including
perennial power Northwestern (#3), Denver (#21), Colorado (#32),
Rutgers (#35), and Arizona St. (#38).
We already know the men are hosting UVA in Feb.
Men's & women's lax consistently provides the thrill of
big/brand-name/nationally-ranked schools coming to town. What a
treat. Already excited for the spring!
