JC wrote Felipe a letter, informing that he's retiring from |
|
public life beginning 2 June 2019. |
|
Does he even do anything/much since he retired? |
|
Your Majesty, dear Felipe: |
|
Over these last few years, since my abdication from the Spanish |
|
Throne on July 2 2014, I have undertaken several Institutional |
|
activities with the same will of service for Spain and for the |
|
Crown as I had during my reign. |
|
Now, when five years have passed since that date, I believe it |
|
is time for me to start a new chapter in my life and to complete |
|
my retirement from public life. |
|
Since last year, when I celebrated my 80th birthday, I have been |
|
thinking this idea through, which was reaffirmed during the |
|
unforgettable commemoration of our Constitution�s 40th |
|
anniversary at the Parliament. A solemn event, very touching for |
|
me, which made me recall with pride and admiration, the memory |
|
of those who contributed to make the Spanish Transition possible |
|
and to renovate my sentiment of permanent gratitude for the |
|
Spanish people, the true maker and the protagonist of that |
|
significant period in our recent history. |
|
With a pondered and firm certainty, today I express my desire of |
|
taking the plunge and to stop undertaking Institutional |
|
activities, starting June 2nd. |
|
I make this decision from the high affection and the father�s |
|
pride that I feel for you, always with my loyalty. |
|

|

Makes me wonder what royals all over are up to. They CAN get |

So JC has slunk away and left Felipe holding the bag. Too |

bad...I feel sorry for him. Anyone know where JC went? How |
|
will this affect Sofia's role in Spanish royal life? Probably |
|
not at all, I guess. |
