Family Theater

Have you ever heard any of the Family Theater episodes? They
were put together by the Catholic Church, but they don't push
Catholicism. Wikipedia
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Family_Theater
describes it:
The show was produced by Family Theater Productions, a film and
radio studio extension of the Family Rosary Crusade founded by
the Holy Cross Priest, Father Patrick Peyton, CSC, as a way to
promote family prayer. The motto of Holy Cross Family Ministries
is "The family that prays together, stays together."
The program had no commercial sponsor, yet Father Peyton, CSC
arranged for many of Hollywood's stars in film and radio at the
time to appear. In its ten-year run, well-known actors and
actresses, including James Stewart, Gregory Peck, Irene Dunne,
Robert Mitchum, Henry Fonda, Bob Hope, Lucille Ball, Shirley
Temple, Barbara Whiting Smith, Raymond Burr, Jane Wyatt,
Charlton Heston, Lizabeth Scott, Bing Crosby, Jack Benny, Gene
Kelly, Kate Smith, William Shatner and Chuck Connors, appeared
as announcers, narrators or stars.
A total of 540 episodes were produced. The program featured not
only religious stories but half-hour adaptations of literary
works such as A Tale of Two Cities, Moby-Dick and Don Quixote.

I can't find all the episodes at You Tube; but I found audio
links. If you want to listen while doing something else, you
can right click on the link and choose the open in another tab
option. I heard these episodes today. Each is about thirty
minutes.

Sounds good...I check out half of one of them. I used to listen
to " Afternoon Theater" when a young wife, mending clothes or
doing the ironing. Loved it.
I check Amazon to see if they have the TV series of Family
Theater on DVD, but they don't.

People here in the US talk a lot about family values but it's
often a code word for something else. I think I like these
Family Theater shows because they really are about family values
-- the kind I can understand.

I just heard another episode. I'd heard it before but I
listened again. Fred MacMurray introduces the story; and Robert
Young stars. This one is not a happy one. It has some strong
lessons. Valuing things more than people, slipshod parenting,
the results of gossip, and how we sometimes regret things and
wish we could change them but can't.
