Believe it or not news
By: Kerry Date: August 14, 2015, 2:44 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Some news today could be used by Ripley's believe it or not.
What is with the EPA now? I thought they were supposed to
clean up the environment and get polluters to; but now I read
the EPA is responsible for spilling polluted water in Colorado.
It's surreal. Three million gallons of poisonous sludge?
Isn't it bad enough that poor weather in California will
probably lead to higher food prices? Now farmers in Colorado
are facing a water shortage. Won't that also affect food
prices? And think of the personal tragedy of farmers who are
told they can't get any water?
I find this story almost impossible to believe. I think maybe
our government is going crazy.

More news -- this time about illegal aliens. A man in the
country illegally just murdered three people. The incredible
part is that he was wanted in his native country for other
crimes. Don't we have an extradition treaty with Belize? If
he was awaiting an extradition hearing, why let him run loose?
From Fox News
http://www.foxnews.com/us/2015/08/15/illegal-immigrant-accused-in-triple-homici…
Hyde was in the country illegally from Belize in Central America
and awaiting a court hearing as an illegal immigrant, having
crossed the Texas border earlier this year, the Lee County
Sheriffs Office said.
He fled to the U.S. to live with his aunt to avoid a trial in a
Belize courtroom on charges of assaulting a police officer last
November, the station said. He was then tried in absentia, found
guilty, and given a 6-month jail sentence that remains to be
served.
Hyde was also wanted in Belize on charges of robbing a cell
phone store, the station said, while also reporting, according
to reports, that the teen and two other men were suspects in a
double homicide in 2013. Eventually, he was charged with a
lesser crime of handling stolen goods.
The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement released a
statement Friday that said, ICE has filed a request with the
Lee County Sheriff's Office for notification if they intend to
release the individual from custody.
I'd like to know why ICE didn't already have him in custody.

IRS: COMPUTER BREACH BIGGER THAN FIRST THOUGHT; 334K VICTIMS
From AP
http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/U/US_IRS_BREACH?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME&TEMPL…
A computer breach at the IRS in which thieves stole tax
information from thousands of taxpayers is much bigger than the
agency originally disclosed.
An additional 220,000 potential victims had information stolen
from an IRS website as part of a sophisticated scheme to use
stolen identities to claim fraudulent tax refunds, the IRS said
Monday. The revelation more than doubles the total number of
potential victims, to 334,000.
The government seems to spend more time spying on us than trying
to prevent hackers from spying on them.
It wouldn't be the first time the IRS has been targeted by
identity thieves based overseas.
In 2012, the IRS sent a total of 655 tax refunds to a single
address in Lithuania, and 343 refunds went to a lone address in
Shanghai, according to a report by the agency's inspector
general. The IRS has since added safeguards to prevent similar
schemes, but the criminals are innovating as well.
The IRS estimates it paid out $5.8 billion in fraudulent refunds
to identity thieves in 2013.
And the people who did it probably collected attractive bonuses.
Remember now that Lois Lerner did such a "good" job at the
IRS, she got $129,000 in bonuses.
How incredible. Most credit card companies recognize something
funny is going on if your credit card starts getting used in
places far from where you live; but the IRS can't figure this
out? They can't track people a little bit better? I would
think they'd verify someone had moved abroad before mailing
refunds. And I don't know how they could possibly think
American 655 taxpayers moved to the same address in Lithuania.
This is the agency that's supposed to deal with Obamacare? I
think some TV channel should start a series called Bureaucrats
Gone Wild.

good way.

and sinister

OKEMAH, Okla. -- A 4-year-old was allegedly forced by his

left-handed....The child was sent home with a letter about how
left-handedness is often associated with evil and the devil.
Zayde is only 4 years old.

No more tag? School district bans game to ensure physical,
emotional safety of students
Posted 1:39 PM, September 25, 2015, by Tribune Media Wire
MERCER ISLAND, Wash. (Sept. 25, 2015) -- Kids at the Mercer
Island School District are now banned from playing the popular
childhood game of tag on the playground.
Parents told Q13 Fox News in Seattle they had no idea about the
ban until their kids told them. Now, moms and dads are asking
why they werent part of the decision-making process.
Good grief, our kids need some unstructured playtime, said mom
Kelsey Joyce.
In this day and age of childhood obesity, theres a need for
more activity, said mom Melissa Neher. Kids should be free to
have spontaneous play on the playground at recess. Its
important for their learning.

This is the first time I even noticed this thread. Yeah Cathy,
some crazy stuff. The rest of it posted is also pretty crazy,
but it is a crazy fallen world, I guess it shouldn't surprise
me.

I heard of left-handed people being pressured to use their right
hands -- decades ago. I thought people were sharper today. I
guess not. It is ironic though that the word "sinister" does
mean "left". We still use the word "sinister" to mean
something scary or not quite right.
Not being allowed to play tag? Totally nuts. What universe
are these people living in? Some alternate reality or
something?

I was stunned when I heard this one. From usnews.com
http://www.usnews.com/news/politics/articles/2015/11/27/white-house-christmas-t…
First lady Michelle Obama has kicked off the holiday season at
the White House by welcoming this year's Christmas tree.
It's a Fraser fir grown in Pennsylvania that stands more than 18
feet tall.
The tree is traditionally displayed in the Blue Room of the
White House. The first lady says this year's tree will honor the
military.
I wonder if she really meant that? Could she really think
Christmas trees could be about the military? My best guess is
she's under so much pressure, she's not thinking straight. It's
either that, or she's not a Christian and knows nothing about
the purpose of Christmas. I think it's the pressure.
Conservatives seem to hate Obama so much and say he hates the
military, etc., that she's overreacting trying to remind
everyone her family isn't that anti-military. I don't think
she enjoys being First Lady and will be glad to be out of the
White House -- can't say I blame her if that's true.
She could have said it's about "Peace on earth, good will to
men" and added that she hoped our military isn't seen as
aggressors but are trying to work for peace. Perhaps that's
what she had in mind?

I think she is just a bit out of touch with normal people, not
sure how to respond to a situation but trying to help. LOL,
sort of like the royalty in France, that lady, the queen I
think, before the revolution, who when told that the people were
rioting because they had no bread, she responded that if they
had no bread, then they should eat cake instead.

[/quote]Yes, I think that too. I also feel sorry for their
daughters; but I do like the way they try to protect them from
too much publicity. Did you know Michelle's mother lives in
the White House? Yes, on the top floor; and I think she spends
time with her grandchildren. That's very good, I think since
both their parents are rather busy.
