theres a hole in the world [ open ]

Spiderscare was resting in the little bit of sunlight the fog
let through. Due to her short fur, she got cold easily, and
soaked up any warmth she could get. Of course, it didn't take
long for the sun to continue to shift and for the ground to grow
cold once more. She frowned before standing up, favoring her leg
despite it being fully healed, and looked around. Maybe she
could hunt a bit before heading home? Yeah, why not.
Stalking among the undergrowth, Spiderscare scented the air. The
GoldClan cats would suffer in their territory, with how muggy it
constantly was. All the while they thrived. They learned how to
depend on sounds, and how to smell through the mist. Speaking of
such, there happened to be a hare not to far off.
The only thing GoldClan probably had on them, was their sight.
Spiderscare could remember in one of their many battles, it was
the dead of night, and no moon could provide light. Yet they
found her in the fog. She was sure that was the end of her that
night, but thankfully they were called away before they could
finish her.
Her paws touched the soggy ground, squelching the wet leaves
beneath her. The hare seemed not to care, as berries were much
more interesting. With one long leap, something her long legs
aided in, she was able to take down the hare. It was of average
size, but anything would do at this time in the winter.
Spiderscare stared in the direction of GoldClan, realizing how
close she had been from steppinf over to their side of the
river. The stream's current lulled her as she stared wistfully
across, a paw on the fresh kill and the other holding her
steady. She remembered one time when she looked over there, and
saw someone quite beautiful - or handsome, she couldn't quite
figure it out. No matter, they were just something, and she
imagined them coming over and greeting her.
They just hissed and ran off, probably to tattle on her fishing
skills that day.
She shook her head and picked up her kill, heading back towards
the camp. Once she made it there, she dropped the rabbit on the
pile and took to cleaning herself up.

[wait is she an apprentice or a warrior? her form said different
so just making sure]
Snakepaw rested at the edge of the clearing in the shade. He
didn't exactly need the shade, as it was almost always cloudy
and foggy, but he had his reasons. He slowly breathed in and
out, his breath inaudible and eyes closed. Anyone would have
thought he had drifted off to sleep if not for his ears
twitching, listening to the quiet murmurs of the HazeClan
campsite.
Suddenly his eyes flashed open and his bright green eyes
flickered around the camp. They landed on Spiderscare since
there wasn't anyone else to look at creepily. He watched her
drop off the prey and sit down to groom herself, and a smile
grew on his face. He lifted up just enough to crawl forward,
carefully stepping with his paws to move silently. As he drew
close, he slowly stood up and appeared beside her. "Hey," he
said, hoping to at least make her jump.

( oh, right, shes a warrior. i aged her up to help stormy with
their leadership stuff lmao )
She should've known better, seeing Snakepaw fein sleep like he
did. She easily fell victim to the tom's scare, as her defenses
were down. Spider thought she was in her safe place, after all,
not some apprentice's playground.
The young she-cat yelped when she heard the tom, her fur rising
and her claws poking out from her extended paw. She slowly
turned her light blue gaze to him, and within seconds
communicated her dismay through her eyes. She shook her head and
relaxed, pulling her paw over her ear as if she was going to
continue cleaning.
Soon enough, she reached out with the same paw and cuffed his
ear, hoping to startle him with her ignore-then-attack tactic.
"Hello, Snakepaw." she hummed, voice as low and as raspy as
ever. Spiderscare only spoke when she was comfortable, and even
though she was turned into a test subject, she was still in her
safe place.
"How's your training coming along?" she asked, keeping her side
to him and absentmindedly continuing her grooming. Maybe a month
ago, she slept in the same den he did. She was only promoted
recently, after all.

Snakepaw grinned triumphantly, letting it fade to a softer smile
after a couple moments. He sat down beside her and seemed to be
smugly basking in his victory until the young warrior suddenly
swatted his ear. A little 'ow' escaped from him as he leaned
away from her assault. The troublemaker didn't take it
personally, however, and simply swiped his paw over his ear and
returned to his confident posture. He would admit that he did
deserve that, but unfortunately, it never stopped him from
messing with people.
"Oh, it's going great," Snakepaw replied plainly. Neither his
expression or voice revealed if he was being sarcastic or not,
but his under enthusiasm could be a hint. "I'm sure you don't
miss it, though."

A low purr sounded in the she-cat, proud of herself for catching
the tom off guard. Her tail swished as he answered her question,
not phased by his lack of emotion. Sure, it was hard to decipher
if sarcasm was used, but she was sure enough that he didn't
really care.
"I miss it a little. Its less freedom, but now I'm back to being
the youngest in the den." she explained quietly, her gaze
tracing over to the apprentice den. She enjoyed being the
oldest, the closest to being awarded a warrior name, the most
experienced apprentice. Now she was back at the bottom of the
ladder.
"Are you going to be promoted anytime soon?" she asked, turning
her gaze back to him. "I won't lie, I miss having you as a
denmate. No warrior seems all that nice, especially at
moonhigh." she shrugged, ears twitching. She was sure to adjust
to being more responsible, more warrior like, but not as soon as
all the other warriors wanted.
( lowkey changing her personality bc i can never stick to the
one i create before hand )
( also highkey eyeing snakescare shipping possibilities )

Snakepaw's ears flicked towards the young warrior expressing her
feelings about being a bit less thrilled about her new status.
He couldn't quite relate to them, but he was still an apprentice
so it was different. When you're young, all you want is to grow
up. Especially when you have such strong feelings against
authority, like Snakepaw. It just seemed that everything would
be so much better once he was his own boss. "At least you're not
the oldest in the warriors den," he joked, revealing a small
smile and then letting it disappear. He didn't think he would be
friends with her if she was that old. No, definitely not.
He let Spiderscare continue, and finally glanced over at her
after her question and last statements. Snakepaw couldn't help
but feel his spirits lift when she said that. He put on a
devious grin. "Aww, you miss me? I can sneak in at night and
keep you company if you want," he purred. She would probably
take that as a joke or tease, but he wasn't so sure if he was
joking himself. "They're probably all boring and stuck up
anyway. You don't want to be like that," he replied. "And uh..to
answer your question, probably not. I'm too busy not meeting my
mentor's high expectations."
( same tbh
also yes i approve and strongly support )

"I'd then be an elder, and you'd have to clean the ticks out of
my fur." she teased, tapping his shoulder with her tail. "I
think there's one right on my shoulder, sweetie ." she over
emphasized the sweetie, and gave into a small cough that
reverted her voice back to its original scratchiness. Nothing a
bit of water couldn't fix. But, of course, not now. She was
conversating now.
At his suggestion, she followed along with his joke, eyes
glittering. "I think that's exactly what I need, Snakepaw. A
snarky apprentice to steal my bedding." her whiskers twitched as
she turned away again, glancing at the fresh kill pile. Although
her rabbit was right there, she spotted a sparrow not too far
off, and was much more into birds at the moment.
"It isn't that hard to actually care, y'know? I mean, unless you
want to be an apprentice forever. Even as an elder, you'll be
stuck with the worst tasks." in all honesty, Spiderscare didn't
mind the tasks, especially with the elders. Elders loved telling
stories and legends, and they were practically what HazeClan was
built on.
Anyways, the she-cat fished out the sparrow, and gazed over the
pile again. "Speaking of the elders, as anyone fed them
yet?" she asked curiously. If they had been fed, then she
would continue to offer the sarcastic apprentice something from
the fresh-kill.

Snakepaw leaned away from her as if disgusted, though he was
soon smiling at her tease. "Blegh, no thanks, grandma. I do
enough of that," he said with a chuckle. He really did groom the
elders more often than the normal apprentice, thanks to his
antics that got him into trouble all of the time. He had matured
with the pranks, but not so much with his mouth.
After her comeback, Snakepaw looked at her mock offense. "How
rude. That's fine, I didn't want your tick-ridden bedding
anyway," he scoffed, striking another playful smile. It faded a
bit after he heard what she said next. He glanced away and
rolled his eyes. Here we go again with the not caring about his
future or whatever. He had prepared himself for a lecture, but
luckily for him, it barely started before she changed the
subject.
"Oh yeah, I fed them yesterday," he said seriously. He waited
several moments to let it settle in before he answered
truthfully. "Yes, don't worry about it. My mentor would have my
pelt if I forgot."

She, of course, giggled at his name calling, eyes still scouring
the fresh-kills for something he may like. She only flicked her
tail to signal that she heard his talk about her nest, before
picking out a mouse. "I mean, I probably got the ticks from you.
They awful hard to get off, after all. You should know, since
that's basically your daily job." she grinned as she dropped the
mouse in front of him.
"Yesterday?" well, of course they were fed yesterday. The
she-cat seemed confused. Although she grew up with his sarcasm,
she would still sometimes fall victim to it. When he spoke more,
she resisted the urge to cuff his ear. "Maybe I'll take your
pelt, instead. It would look great lining my nest." she stuck
out her tongue before pushing him the mouse. "Anyhow, I
assume its okay for you to eat your fill, then."

Snakepaw stopped smiling for moment and widened his eyes. "Daily
jo- Ohh man. Wow. That...that hurts." he replied, looking sad
for a moment before smiling and continuing on. He saw the mouse
she dropped in front of him, but was too busy keeping up with
their playful banter to really notice. "Hey, it's not like I
mean to get in trouble. It's not my fault all the old
stick-in-the-muds are so sensitive," Snakepaw said.
Snakepaw paused as she answered his smart reply while
threatening to use his fur as a comfy addition to her bedding.
He, of course, smirked, enjoying her reaction. He was about to
answer with 'sure, go ahead' when she nudged the mouse closer to
him. For a moment, he was surprised. His green eyes glanced down
at it, then looked back up Spiderscare. "Why, thank you,
sweetie. You're too kind," he purred. He bent down and sniffed
it before taking a small bite.
