Keegan picked through the fresh-kill pile, soon reaching for a
tough rabbit and lifting the limp creature at its scruff. He
glanced around for a comfortable place to dig into his meal.

Alex had recently been released from the medicine den after her
attack. She had mostly healed, but there was a scar on her face,
a bite mark starting at her eye and leading down to her muzzle.
"Good morning, Keegan," she greeted as she walked to the fresh
kill pile to find something to eat.

Keegan looked towards Alex, the sight of her scar making his
insides cringe with guilt and anger. When he pulled his eyes
away from it, he realized he had bitten really hard into the
corpse and blood began sinking into his mouth. He dropped the
rabbit and licked the taste from his muzzle. That scar, it made
him so mad. Maybe he'd go punch a tree later. Yeah, that sounded
like a good idea. Not really.
"Morning," he finally replied. "So, uh, how are you feeling?" he
tried to ask casually, glancing at her and then back at the
rabbit he chose.

The red tabby just shrugged, thinking of how to answer. "A lot
better," she replied honestly, a small smile growing on her maw.
She found a squirrel and took it carefully, bringing it over to
Keegan and sitting beside him, not quite hungry. Alex knew she
would be, though, which was why she grabbed it.

Keegan caught her soft smile as she sat beside him with the
small rodent. His tense shoulders relaxed a little. She was
doing a lot better, Alex was a strong girl, but the WildClan
leader couldn't help but worry even if that was true. He had
never really gotten close to someone in a romantic way before,
or close in any way to anyone, except maybe with Chris. He had
discovered during the past moon that he was more protective of
others than he thought. "That's good," he muttered, replying to
her earlier answer. His sharp orange eyes returned to the rabbit
to avoid her gaze.

She glanced over for a second just as he looked away then looked
back to her prey. Shuffling her paws, she laid down, starting to
eat. Alex wasn't the best at carrying on a real conversation.
( bleh )
( i've decided )
( from now on she'll be a bit shier and anxious )
( and less trusting )
