I have to say that holding the tournament in the rainy season
Sri Lanka feels like a foolish act by the ICC. Arguably the
biggest tournament of many women's careers, possibly the last
World Cup for some players getting on in their careers and the
tournament is becoming farcical. This question has not been
asked, but would the ICC have arranged the men's ODI World Cup
in the host country's rainy season? Sadly the commentators
aren't asking that question as I am sure that they are bound I
am sure by the rights of the TV company to host the competition.
You do not bite the hand that feeds you i.e. the ICC.

Indeed and the hand that feeds them is the India dominated ICC.
The only reason Sri Lanka is being used is because of the
continued standoff between India and Pakistan which results in
neither playing in the other's country. A strong and
independent governing body would tell both to play where the
tournament has been scheduled or not play at all.
The ICC is not that body. It is no coincidence that India will
have played on four successive Sundays through the group stage
to maximise TV audiences at home. Just as games in Caribbean
have very early start times to coincide with peak viewing time
in India.

I would guess at Cotton and Polasak being on field umpires for
the final with williams, pereira sheridan and redfearn
candidates for the tv role.

Congrats to all appointed. Although, its not surprising
considering the semi final appointments it does seem Sheridan
has overtaken Polosak as Australias number 1 rather suddenly.
