Daniel Woodward was just on Colchester�s game yesterday! Oh dear
appointments chief�
Simon Mather, Martin Coy and Ben Toner on the big league one
games, Declan Bourne, Ross Joyce, Seb Stockbridge and Alex
Chilowicz in league two.
Toner�s made a couple of glaring errors this weekend, hope he�s
got it in him to shrug those off with a very high profile game.
Kettle jr gets a likely promotion party and Stephen Parkinson
gets a crucial game at both ends at Roots Hall.

Tom Nield and Thomas Parsons for the two key games at the
bottom. A bit surprised we get Mr Parsons relatively soon after
he did our game at Bradford, debatable penalty and all.
In fact, I am reminded elsewhere that this is the third time Mr
Parsons has been in the middle for a Rovers game this season.
Given there are a few officiating in the L2 games this weekend
who I don't recall officiating a Rovers league game this season,
even more surprising.

I've previously mentioned the lack of variation in the
allocations this season (as have other people). With the revamp
of the hierarchy from the start of the season it is quite
surprising how many names are being reused, and how often, while
others have not been used at all. Not just in the middle, but
the fourth officials - Bolton have had John Mulligan as 4O four
times - and, especially, the many assistant referees who have
still yet to feature.
This graphic shows the referees / 4th officials that Bolton
Wanderers have had this season (listed by number of games in the
middle, then by allocations as 4th Official)

And those we have not seen....

In terms of Assistants, I won't list them as there are so many
of them...but we've had 73 different names this season. 28 of
which have appeared more than once. 13 of them three or more
times (Saturday's game at Peterborough sees Danny Guest join
Jonathon Block, Johnathon Bickerdike, Conor Brown and Lewis
Raper at the top of the table with four each. In contrast,
Danny's flag partner Alistair Nelson appears at a Bolton game
for the first time since 1st January 2024).
Meanwhile, a rather large number - 179 - of the SG2 and National
List assistants have not been allocated to us in any capacity
(line or 4th) this season.
(And yes.....I do need to get out more.....)

I wonder if the assistants are due to proximity of where they
live as Stockport seem to have had Lewis Raper about four or
five times this season as well. For the likes of Mather you can
probably count yourself lucky to avoid them!

Ross Joyce is a sensible appointment for Doncaster-Bradford but
what�s the plan if he gets injured? A game that big needs a good
name as 4th
