Not surprised that Will Finnie has a key game in L2, Bradford
City v Colchester, with Martin Woods on another key game, Notts
County v Crewe. Oldham at Oldham, pity Scott couldn't have been
involved as well.

Scott, in this instance, got there first.

Kennard-Kettle doesn't have the same ring to it does it?
There's a Kennard Close a couple of miles outside Oldham Town
Centre but that's as near as we get now!

Martin Woods - Probably the first time Ive seen a referee give
simulation when an attacker is 1v1 with the goalkeeper. Ive
posted this before but attackers always seem to be given the
benefit of the doubt and a penalty is normally awarded. Whether
this incident is correct, Im not sure

Will Finnie had a fairly easy afternoon at a packed Valley
Parade, with no cautions issued. I do however think he has had
better days re. foul detection - there were some inconsistencies
here - and also thought we had a strong shout for a penalty when
Tyreik Wright appeared to be brought down by the Col U keeper (I
was 100 yards away tho, so could be totally wrong). We had a
goal from a corner chalked off after AR1 adjudged the kick to
have curled out of play. Impossible to tell off the replay, but
it looked correct in real time.
As for the teams of 11, I actually thought Colchester looked
very good in the first half. However they were blown away in the
second 45 and the scoreline didnt flatter Bradford. Im sure
elbee will read this, I think you are a strong contender for a
top 7 place, but a centre half pairing of Flanagan and Kelleher
might be more than adequate for a bottom half L2 team, but not
for one pushing for promotion. Cant see you getting past a semi
final unfortunately

Bad day at office for Ross Joyce at Gateshead from a natural
point of view some of the decisions he made for both side were
absolutely baffling, seen him few months ago at Carlisle vs
Swindon at brunton park and thought he was fairly decent but
today I wasnt so sure

I mostly agree with all aspects of that summary, Ollie. No major
errors from Will and team - being in the away end, I had good
views for the no goal and penalty incidents. AR1 spot on, it did
curl out and as for the penalty, I think it was closer to a
simulation than a penalty - if there was contact, it was
initiated by a trailing leg.
I thought Will missed a few fouls off the ball for both teams,
Edwards and Halliday in particular seemed to get tangled up a
lot. I also found he was quite far away from play a lot, but as
I say, he got most things right so perhaps that works for him. A
stricter referee may have cautioned one of our players in the
first half for taking their time getting the game restarted.
A brilliant Bradford performance and I agree, 4-1 was a fair
reflection. One very good team at their best and another quite a
way off their usual standard. Bradford were terrible in the
reverse fixture but judging off today and recent months, id be
shocked if youre not playing League One football next season.
