| The AR being behind in the wrong position is the key here. From | |
| his position the offside line will look like it passes through | |
| the nearest defender and straight on to the ball with the | |
| attacker ahead of both. If you know you are behind play you can | |
| make calculations as to where the offside line is but it is | |
| difficult (although the pattern in the grass can help). | |
| Positioning, and therefore fitness and work rate, is everything | |
| on the line. | |
