Semi and Final Predictions
By: badref Date: July 6, 2024, 5:06 pm

Now we're getting down to the final stages, interested to see
who we think is getting the semis and final?
My predictions are:
Spain vs France - Szymon Marciniak
Netherlands vs England - Slavko Vinčić
Final - Daniele Orsato

Spain v France Marciniak or Vincic
England v Netherlands Zwayer or Siebert
Final Orsato with whichever referee that doesnt do the first
semi as back up

I agree with badref if Orsato gets the final. If he doesn't,
then I think we'll see a German referee in one of the SFs,
probably Zwayer.
If Guida is still there, he could have a 4O role in a SF. Same
maybe applies to Kruzliak. And probably one of the German
referees if Orsato has the final.
I'm assuming Turpin, Taylor and Oliver have now completed their
involvement. If so, Turpin's last game, when imo he was
excellent, was quite a contrast to his opener.

Marciniak has surely got to get either the 2nd semi or the Final
itself. He has only had 2 games - and been very good in both -
and he did referee the 2022 World Cup Final when he was
outstanding. Has Rossetti forgotten that?
If Marciniak doesnt feature again it will be a farce and, to be
honest, will stink of political machinations

I don't see Orsato getting the final. Whilst avoiding real
controversy I dont think the team performed at a high enough
level. There were some pretty bad errors for this level of the
game, (missed the clearest handball of the tournament, and AR
throw in with ball clearly not out of play) and then outside of
the direct team of 3 the issue over the substitutions.
I think Marciniak gets it. He has delivered a WC final with much
aplomb and compliments so he is, as far as you can be, a risk
free appointment.
The other candidate I think is Taylor of England don't make it.
He has delivered several correct KMDs (whether you agree or not
he has been backed on those decisions) and so based on
performance and meritocracy he has to be the next name on the
list.
The way the Holland offside call was dealt with theon field
process was first class from Nunn and Taylor.
Let's see what happens later in the week

I am truly astonished that Orsato is even being referenced
regards the final. His team's last performance was abysmal and
fitness is an issue that needs to be considered.

I think you will find that most posters are basing their
thoughts on who they think uefa will appoint to the final and
not who they themselves would appoint or who deserves the
appointment.
I based my predictions on the semi final and final earkier in
the thread by trying to second guess who uefa would appoint and
who i thought they should appoint.
Politics def comes into play for The German appointment in the
second semi
And fear it will in the final too.
I agree Marciniak should be the favourite but still think uefa
will appoint Orsato, i hope i am wrong.
