Well that's put paid to a suggestion on another thread that
Oliver should be one of four going home.
It's been confirmed elsewhere on the forum that Taylor is
retained so I'm delighted that both English teams are staying on
for the Knock-Out stage.
It will be interesting to see what further part if any Kovacs
will be playing. Whatever the views of the behaviour of the
players and coaching staff, it must present a problem for
Rosetti and the committee that so many cards were issued. Even
if many if not all of the cards could be justified in
themselves, it's legitimate to question why they became
necessary and whether a difficult game could have been managed
differently.

Spanish media confirming Mazano and his lead VAR Hernandez have
been sent home, with the other Spanish VAR remaining, noted on
another refereeing forum.

so pleased to see that Taylor and Oliver have ben retained goes
to show what somebody said in another thread of both going home
had 2 good performances from both hope 1 of them gets the final
depending on Englands progress
it will be interesting what rosetti makes of the clashing
between turkey and the Czech republic players either stand by
kovacs which makes him retained or if he doesn't kovacs goes
home
am I right in saying then that their is no full Spanish
refereeing team being retained apart from video referees
assistant 2 who worked with Hernandez who might join up and
complete another refereeing team?

No surprise Hernandez Hernandez has gone, and taking Manzano
with him after the complete dogs dinner of a performance they
served up in their group stage match.
I wonder if Oliver will be kept on after the R16, as it appears
Taylor may well be featuring in the latter stages, and will they
keep two English officials on board.

It may well depend if England are still in the tournament come
Sunday night.
Marciniak and Orsato favourites for the final the latter
dependent on how far Italy progress in the knockout stages.
I would personally give Kovacs a game in the round of 16 or a
quarter final

I guess it will depend on whether they plan to use Oliver as 40
in Taylor's game. Did they send a second group of ref teams
home after the R16 last time?

Am I right in thinking that in the unfortunate occurrence of
Oliver going down injured his place would be taken by the 4th
Official. Seems a huge gamble to rely on someone who hasn't
refereed at the tournament yet. I thought 4th Officials in the
Knockout, would be drawn from the active refereeing cohort.

Neither team for L16 (Sat) was used as 4th/RAR in group games
Will the other 6 games follow that pattern?

Indeed, also its probably a decent few weeks since the
conclusion of domestic seasons so there could be an element of
rustiness too.
With Poland out of the competition, Marciniak has a clear run to
any contest going forward, a useful piece of artillery for
Rosetti to use in the latter stages.
