Ian Cathcart

Ian Robert Cathcart, a prominent referee in the Scottish League
in the 1980s and 90s, died on 27th March 2024 in Portugal, aged
73. Ian was a practising G.P. throughout his refereeing career
based in Bridge of Allan, near Stirling. A native of Glasgow, he
was educated at Hillhead High School and Glasgow University. As
a referee he adopted a low key approach, seldom courting
controversy, and was well liked and respected by players and
club officials.
