EFL CUP - Championship clubs
By: RCG Date: August 11, 2022, 1:33 am

Quote from BBC website:
"Fourteen Championship sides played lower-league opposition in
the first round and, after all nine second-tier sides lost
matches against lower-ranked clubs on Tuesday, only Blackburn
and Rotherham managed to avoid shocks on Wednesday."
Speaks volumes to how "seriously" they treat this competition!
Only bonus is there are a lot of L1 vs Prem ties in Round 2 -
just hope it's first teams and not L1 vs Prem Reserves.

I remember for so many years wanting to reach the 3rd round of
the FA cup hoping for a lucrative big team tie, rarely got
there. We played Arsenal one season and it literally financed
our entire season. I hated how the big teams played their cup
team though. First season in the prem and my team became that
disrespectful prem club 😔
I hope a lower league team go on and win both cups, they are
more deserving, imo.

The seeding also doesn't seem to help the lower league clubs
when it comes to teams in the Midlands.
Walsall have been put in the south group, yet Villa, Wolves and
West Brom are all in the north group, so Walsall miss out on the
chance of a local derby despite being more northerly than both
Villa and West Brom geographically

Birmingham were also in the south group as well, despite being
in the same region as the likes of Villa, Wolves etc. Just
baffling.

Hopefully the trend will carry on and you will only send your
U18's for the next round. :)

Some of the lower clubs also made wholesale changes. Last night
Sheff Wed and and Sunderland both made massive changes and
Wednesday blew Sunderland away.

Im very happy with Crawley V Fulham a reasonable journey by
car to get to the Broadfield
We will probably end up getting Stroud as referee 🙄
