Elemental Magick and Manipulation

---------------------------------------------------------
Manipulating the elements is easy. The elements are as the Greek
described, fire, air, earth, water. Simple and elegant.
Sub-elements can be created from these four basic building
blocks. Lightning is one, dust is another, ice yet another, etc.
...
The combinations are plentiful, and it is not important to
memorize all. The important is to know the basic elements, and
with this further knowledge will come.
Fire is a rapid, destructive, hot, chaotic, self-formed, and
decisive element. It is very dangerous, and it comes as no
surprise that playing with this element often leads towards
burnt magick users. It is often associated with the male side,
and with civilization.
Air is a rapid, creative, hot, chaotic, formless and indecisive
element. It is a very good element to master, as those who
master air often find it second nature to master other elements
and obtain wisdom. It is often associated with knowledge,
freedom of information as a right, creativity, and higher mental
states.
Water is a slow, creative, cold, orderly, formless, and
indecisive element. It is the least powerful of the elements in
direct action, but most powerful in indirect action - it is very
benign in nature. It is often associated with healing, life, and
the feminine side.
Earth is slow, destructive, cold, orderly, self-formed, and
decisive element. It is very still, which leads towards being
"down to earth", and limits creativity and vision - leadership
of expansionist or constructionist type do not fall under earth,
but rather consolidating and founding leaderships do. It is
often associated with permanence, silence, and is depicted as
against knowledge as a free right (but rather as an earned
privilege to those few "worthy").
(as you may have noticed, I am most definitely an air element)
Elements tend to be opposite of each other in the fire-water and
earth-air sense.
Light and darkness are not elements, as they encompass different
things. They are more oriented towards morality than
personalities. I would say that they fit more as additional
characteristics that complement the elements.
Elemental manipulation is easy: but first, you must set your
mind to work in the correct mindset; you must think like the
element you wish to control. (for this reason, only a balanced
mind can control all elements, but does so at half efficiency in
all cases, compared to a normal elemental specialist)
Manipulating elements starts out at the very basics, trying to
warm a hand, moving air in a room, and so forth. Afterwords, it
moves to the astral. But, the Astral is but the natural
environment of the elements, as where this universe is limited
in magick and powers - in some areas, this limit weakens, and in
these areas mystic powers flow greatly, and make for much more
dangerous areas to encounter a hostile magick user.
A magick user is most definitely more well equipped when he or
she knows how to manipulate the elements. Although this is a
side note, eastern magick uses five elements, and can work
better in some cases. Studying these elements will help for
situations when your first focus of study is ineffective.
Remember, eastern and western magick can be useful in different
situations. The different cultures all used magick, the problem
is that only two main branches are left, eastern and western,
where in the ancient times there was American Indian, Egyptian,
and a few other (including native African) also were common, and
now barely remain.
Practices of magick of all these groups had certain purposes for
which they were best suited. Knowing how to use each one as a
tool will help you become a better magick user. However, some
knowledge are harder to obtain. Although native American Indian
magick survives, it is kept amongst the natives, as they have a
sense of pride and seldom share. Egyptian is one which is next
to impossible to discover, as any knowledge there once was seems
to escape common knowledge, although some secret societies claim
to have this knowledge, it is doubtful any truly have this
knowledge. Although native African will be easier to obtain than
the other two.
Looking for an experienced practitioner of the knowledge and
traditions you wish to obtain is wise, and finding one that will
teach you is even harder. My sincere wishes of best luck to you
in your quest.
