headaches...
By: dylgon Date: March 13, 2020, 12:24 pm

recently i've been getting really bad migraines. i've had this
issue for a while now and it used to be tolerable, but recently
it's been getting to the point where i'm starting to get aura
and spots in my vision as the pain gets really bad. i'd also
start feeling sick but have nothing to throw up.
i would head to the hospital but the virus is kind of serious
around where i live so it's best not to head to hospitals unless
i absolutely 100% need to :(
does this have anything to do with sleep? (as far as i'm aware
i'm getting around 7 hours a night and i haven't been any more
stressed than i normally would be) i really don't know what's up
with this...
is there a good way to relieve pain other than painkillers?

I really do understand your fear of coronavirus because I feel
the same, but I have some tips that can ease your headaches
without you resorting to painkillers.
A heating pad or a cold compress can help. Wheat pads can be
warmed up in the microwave.
Dimming the lights in your room, closing curtains during sunny
days can help. If you have Venetian blinds, tilt them upwards so
incoming light goes to the ceiling, making ambient light kinder
to your eyes. I have brownish wooden venetians which give my
ceiling a soft appealing glow.
A laptop's screen glare becomes intolerable at night,
aggravating headaches. There is a free download called f.lux
which puts an adjustable pinkish glow to the screen. f.lux needs
to know your country and zip code/post code to determine sunrise
and sunset times, factoring in DST if your country uses it.
f.lux:

I don't use f.lux because I can tone down my laptop's 4K
screen's brightness, but f.lux works well for others. Mum likes
it, but not for me.
Sleep. We teens need 8 to 10 hours sleep each night so we can
function best next day and less prone to headaches. Less hours
will make us grumpy and feeling irritable. Prolonged insomnia
can cause anxiety, even depression. Lately I've been guilty of
late nights, so should take my own advice.
Mum's just given me a large black coffee, but I'm going to go
make camomile tea. And it's camomile tea that is wonderfully
soothing for headaches, period pains and helping sleep and
relaxation. Smells nice, too.
....Just ditched the coffee (apologized to mum)...because too
much caffeine can cause me a belter of a headache, but tea is
well cool. Most people outside England don't like tea all that
much, but I grew up on it, and recommend it.
I share your fear over getting 'the virus' especially for my
mum. Don't touch your face, but wash your hands in warm water
and soap for at least 20 seconds. If you sneeze, use a
disposable tissue. If you haven't one, sneeze into the corner of
your elbow. If you feel unwell with any of the symptoms of the
virus, stay indoors and call 911 or if in England, NHS 111
I hope your headaches get better. :)

in a few more days

time

Could you make an appointment to see your doctor? There are some
excellent meds, not painkillers (mum says) that can interrupt
the start of a migraine before it takes hold. I feel you should
let your doctor know, especially as migraines are so crippling.
