Joy's Future Projects
By: JEV Date: April 14, 2013, 5:20 am

I decided to open this thread so we can discuss Joy's possible
future projects and talk about her career options and anything
related to this. Bringing some very interesting posts from other
threads:

Yeah, as a long time fan of Joy - I stumbled onto the show
sometime around season 2, season 1 in my country, and became an
instant fan of hers (the show as a whole not so much, lol) -
it's certainly been interesting to see the different phases
she's gone through and I've honestly never been someone who has
wanted or I guess needed to see Joy going to events constantly.
But as you said this is a new phase and it is important for her
to be out there and seen a little bit more even in a small
capacity however if she was constantly at events and not getting
work or auditioning that would not be something I want to see
for her. I'm so happy about her role on Dexter and I can only
hope that it will bring more opportunities her way - personally
I want to see Joy in Indie movies though who knows if that's
something she wants - I'm just excited to see what the future
holds for her. Sorry that was a bit wordy and hopefully it made
sense, lol.

ICAM. I think going overboard isn't good when it comes to
anything. I have personally never understood the connection
between going to a hundred random events and getting work. I
think if you are getting a project based on how active you are
on the red carpet scene then I'm not sure if that project would
be even worth it. The most important aspect is auditioning and
I'm glad she got back to auditioning again. She wasn't on a show
which was critically acclaimed or had huge ratings so the
chances of someone noticing her talent based on that factor are
hardly any IMHO so it is essential for someone in her position
to go out there and audition.
I would love to see her in an indie , I would love to see her in
a dramady or a romantic comedy or drama..anything..lol! I'm so
happy that she is on Dexter even though I haven't even watched a
single ep of the show :P I just hope she keeps on auditioning
and pursuing things that intrest her .

I'm I guess you could say "in the biz" to an extent in my
country - I'm a filmmaker at the very beginning of my career -
so I can understand that part of it in terms of strategy and
PR/Marketing especially as the actors are the face of the
industry for the most part. But I think that works more when you
have something to promote, if you're just going to get your face
out there and not auditioning or making connections behind the
scenes than it really doesn't matter honestly, besides casting
directors or directors/ producers are not going to spend their
time scouting red carpet events to find talent - plus that stuff
is more the realm of "celebrity" and I don't think that's what
Joy wants to be. I think the fact that Joy didn't go to a lot of
events during OTH's run is both a good and a bad thing, on the
one hand she's not as much of a known face as say Sophia or
Chad, so people don't necessarily know who she is but that's
also a good thing IMO because I doubt Joy wants to be known just
for being on OTH so there's more of a chance that she'll become
known for projects she'll be doing in the future or for a body
of work as that builds. Nabbing a role on Dexter is certainly a
step in the right direction as it is critically acclaimed and
the calibre of actors is at a completely different level to that
of OTH so it'll be a great learning experience for Joy as well.
After the news was released about Joy getting a role I watched
the first season and the seventh season of Dexter - it certainly
has it's problems and from what I read the middle seasons
weren't so good but it'll be interesting to see how Joy's
character fits into that world. Plus I'd imagine with it being
the final season more eyes will be on the show to see how it
ends.
In terms of the quality of projects out there, Indie films &
cable shows are where more interesting and better written
projects can be found for sure so that's the avenue I would want
to see Joy go down rather than guest spots on network TV or
terrible studio films that are obviously paycheck jobs but you
never know. Sorry for going off topic - maybe we could move the
discussion elsewhere if it's a problem?

What exactly are you guys trying to say that One tree hill
wasn't good enough for joy or she shouldn't have done men at
work? just wondering

Speaking only for myself, I am saying that OTH as a whole,
especially in its later seasons, was not a very good show. It's
fine in that CW/soap drama-y/teen-twenties audience category,
but as Joy has matured in age and talent, I'd really like to see
her in a show with more substance.
