| Fitting an air vent in a garage | |
| By: Cornish Rattler Date: September 9, 2017, 9:54 am | |
| --------------------------------------------------------- | |
| Hi guys | |
| Well after I fitted a Potbelly stove in my garage earlier this | |
| year I have decided on fitting a Hit and Miss ( adjustable ) air | |
| vent on the opposite wall which is where my bench is and even | |
| though the garage gets very warm for some reason the heat seam's | |
| to struggle to get to the other side of the garage where my | |
| bench is so I am trying to see if this idea would work so today | |
| I dug my SDS drill out to drill the ( concrete sectional ) wall | |
| of the garage and fitted the vent in place so on Monday when I | |
| am off again I will get the stove going again and see if it has | |
| worked, if not I will close the vent so I don't have a permanent | |
| draft when I am working on the bench. | |
| What do you think :smile1 | |

| Had the stove on today to try the vent out and it works a treat | |
| as the area where the bench is is now nice and warm and not too | |
| warm to work just right and I can adjust the vent at the bench | |
| if I need to, so I will just have to wait till winter kicks in | |
| to find out properly but it seams to be working up to now | |
| :smile1 | |

| By vent you mean nothing more than a hole in your wall around | |
| your bench, at the opp. end to your stove. Not tubular | |
| vent/ducting, going from over your stove to the opp. end? | |
| Correct? | |
| I would have argued not, I'm surprised it worked. Seems I would | |
| have lost the argument. | |

| Correct and yes it worked not like its pulling loads of heat | |
| towards the bench area but just a nice amount of heat rather | |
| than being cold if stood over the bench for long periods of | |
| time, but the real test will be when winter kicks in good and | |
| proper as we are supposedly expecting a bad winter this year so | |
| we will see :smile1 | |

| getting fed up of false promises of a bad winter, do you think | |
| they'll get it right eventually? | |

| It would be nice if we have a good winter but having the stove | |
| in the garage now just allows me to work on the 2a all year | |
| round and it I have a shit job to do on it in the winter it | |
| isn't a problem | |
