HPI check for original registration |

Hello all, |
|
was wondering if an HPI report showing the original |
|
registration would be acceptable evidence for DVLA to reissue |
|
it? Have been happy with my number plate for the last 17 years |
|
so not really bothered to change it if it's a hassle, but on the |
|
other hand if it's easy enough to do it would be quite nice to |
|
have it back. Any thoughts? |

Will, you're best off sending �5 and a V888 to the DVLA to get |
|
the full history on your vehicle. You'll get pages and pages of |
|
stuff, it'll probably take a month or so. You need to ascertain |
|
if the original plate has been replaced by a cherished one (i.e. |
|
is currently unallocated) or if your vehicle has been |
|
plate-raped, i.e. the the original plate has been sold. If the |
|
former, yes you can get them to reassign it for free if you |
|
waive the rights to the plate currently on it. If the latter, no |
|
you'll need to track down the current owner and try and buy it |
|
