Inaccurate Speedo |

Now here's a thing; my speedo shows roughly half the speed I'm |
|
actually doing... Not that I'm doing a lot of course, but a pain |
|
when in a 30 limit with speed cameras. |
|
Presume it's just a buggered speedo, or can there be another |
|
reason? |

Could be worn where the speedo cable fits in to the rear of the |
|
transfer box, a new cable normally sorts it or if not its the |
|
drive gear that has worn which can be quite common. |

Would say the speedo needs overhauling. The magnetic cup that |
|
spins around needs to be re-magnetised. |

I'll try a new cable and see if that sorts it. |
|
Is the drive gear in the speedo unit or the transfer box? |
|
Would a speedo overhaul be a relatively easy job? |

Its in the rear of the transfer box dude, where the cable fits |
|
in. Speedo is quite technical and can cost quite a bit t have |
|
refurbed. |

Speedo drive housing tight, pre load correct? I'm thinking the |
|
drive works on friction? Not enough friction= not enough turny |
|
action? |

i use a GPS speedo and work out what speeds are what. Mine is |
|
about 8-15mph out. |
