The Tampere Talon - Mid-season News

The season so far:
Golden Eagles FC have had a strong showing in division one since
their promotion from the second division. Although they started
off the season a bit ropey, losing twice and being 6 points
adrift of top spot after only a hand-full of game. However, they
quickly turned things around and went on a 9 game unbeaten run
until losing to Manchester United just before the break. They
now sit a in a respectable 5th place, only 3 points from leaders
Sarnians in what is certainly a close top half of the table.
Meanwhile, in the cup competitions, they have made it to the
third round of the EA KO Cup and will face Rael Nerrad in a
couple of weeks. While in the X-Box League Cup, they finished
top of their group and move onto the round of 16, where they
face a double header against Darlington All Stars.
Stand out Stars:
Portuguese winger, Diog Guillems (signed from Helsinki
Hellhounds) has certainly been one of the best signings of the
season so far in division one, racking up 13 goals in 19 starts
from midfield.
Kai Matsumoto (signed from Nikara Dragons) has also been another
brilliant signing with 25 key tackles and 24 key passes,
Japanese defender was a long term target of Dave Rosewell's
after impressing during season 3 and we can see why he rated him
highly.
Young Filipino midfielder Angelo Nazari has also has a great
first half of the campaign with 50 key passes and 9 assists.
Meanwhile upfront, Russian striker Pavel Chernyshev has scored
15 goals in 17 games, continuing his fine scoring form.
Ins and Outs:
The last few days of the mid-season break have been pretty busy
for Eagles and there are some big surprises with the likes of
Eric Van Oist and Jack Groves both leaving the club!
Eric Van Oist has struggled a little for form this season,
although he has managed to provide 21 key passes and 3 assists,
defensively he just hasn't been as sharp as last season. So
Eagles have bought in Frenchman Dustan Huevo from champions and
rivals Rael Nerrad, with Van Osit and 15,000,000 going the
other way. Huevo has been mighty since being signed from the
pre-season auction and could really boost Eagles already
formidable defence. He has been given the number 4 jersey and
should start against Darlington All Stars tomorrow.
Englishman Jack Groves and his strike partner Pavel Chernyshev
have had a rocky relationship, they just haven't been able to
gel. A rift also developed between himself and manager Dave
Rosewell after he was hauled off against Man United in week 13.
In his place, Dave Rosewell has bought in Davy Hanna from Artic
Storm which has certainly raised some eyebrows, but Hanna has
scored 15 goals himself so far this season and his playing style
should match Chernyshev's better. Jack Groves goes the other
way, as does Ady Tupperman, while James Avery joins Hanna at
Eagles. It doesn't look likely that this deal will be done
before tomorrow's games however, but should be completed before
next Wednesday's league cup match. It looks like Hanna will be
given the number 10 shirt, while Avery will get number 25.
Finally, it looks that Spencer Mason (who has struggled for game
time) is also rumoured to be on his way out, but this is
currently unconfirmed.
