Dragons head East in season finale
The Nikara Dragons are heading to Oasis Park in the season
finale as they come head to head with the Eastern Whirlwinds.
The game is basically a dead rubber with the Dragons knocked out
the playoff contention and the Whirlwinds locked into the bottom
2. That won't stop both teams looking to finish the season with
some momentum to take into the offseason in the hope they can
use that momentum to have a more successful season in year 4!
What does the table tell us?
It's hard to look past the table where the Eastern Whirlwinds
sit last with 14 points from the 21 games played this season.
It's been a difficult season for them but will that mean the
Nikara players overlook the threat in front of them and get
complacent. The table is hardly kind to them either as the 19th
placed team of 24 in total so easy to see this one going either
way. That and home advantage make this as even a contest as
there is in the game.
A look at the squads
The Dragons team is likely to pick itself with Melav still
needing 24 minutes to hit his target for the year and virtually
guaranteeing him a starting spot. Hard to imagine Taylor or
Prittwick missing out which means Vito Fleuss is likely to drop
to the bench, at least for 30 minutes, to kick things off. In
defence there isn't much talent so Kushimo, Marconato, Lundrum
and Yobari are likely to have to rely on their potential
instead. Up front we might see Rutter step in for someone but
with Limt and Shallahs in such good form and Hanzo the star man
in the team I'd expect another spot on the bench.
The Whirlwinds are good in goal where Van Angel is close to 17
rated and the back four are a more talented group of defenders
than Nikara (15/15/14/14). All are available so you'd expect
goals to be hard to come by for Nikara. In midfield Baxer is
missing through suspension but Tuco, Franco and Adams all have
talent. Whilst the forwards lack star power its hard to ignore
the 18 goals from 13 rated front man Kilo Granitt.
What the manager has to say
At this point there was a feeling that the Nikara board would
stop allowing the manager to speak to the press due to the
incessant rambling and nonsense that spews from his mouth but
for now they haven't put a hold on it. My guess is they wished
they had:
"I can't believe there's another team in either leagues that can
match up with us. We are the greatest. I'd take every player in
my team over every other player in the game and there's nothing
anyone can say that will convince me otherwise. Well, except
some of those players at Kyushu or Real Nerrad, they're dead
good. Oh and the ones at the Golden Eagles, those boys are
incredible. Oh and there's a couple at Manchester United that
are much better than my lads. Oh and virtually everyone at
Sarnians. But other than that probably nobody"
Jesus wept....

[move][glow=red,2,300]AFC Coventry vs Helsinki Hellhounds
[/glow][/move]
Overview
It all comes down to this! Draw and Helsinki will almost
certainly be promoted. Defeat and whilst it will be out of
Helsinki's hands, they will still be very strong favourites to
retain a top three spot come season end! Helsinki sit in 2nd
whilst Coventry's season is over sitting tantalisingly in 6th
but 4 points off 5th place. They look to have a couple of
players short of minutes targets and it remains a possibility
that one or two get a start who haven't been regulars all
season.
What are the bookmakers saying?
Coventry 6/5
Draw 3/1
Helsinki 5/6
Being away from home, this one could go either way.
Team news
No fitness or suspension concerns and a full squad to choose
from.
Form guide
Helsinki Hellhounds DLDWWW (league form)
Helsinki have found their form again just in time. Wins
throughout December, none in January and wins throughout
February. This team blows hot and cold.
AFC Coventry LWLDLW (league form)
Coventry are quite volatile. Beating Robbailie at home one week
and losing 8 -1 to Highland another week.
Players to watch
Helsinki are reporting that Evans has been imperious in training
this week and Hikkara has been on form in goal, both could be
crucial to keeping out Coventry.
Manager's mouthful
"These are the games that you live for. Coventry are a very good
side and we're under no illusions about this game. We know we
have to perform at our very best to get something from this game
and that's what we'll aim to do. I'm confident that the team
will perform and deliver the goods on the pitch. Whilst our form
has been up and down, we have gained more points than any other
team in the division since I took over. That's a record to be
proud of and we should take confidence from than that. This side
and the club are ready to test themselves in Div 1 and it would
be a huge let down for the fans if we don't make it."

[font=comic sans ms] Kyushu Yakuza vs Sarnians
NO time to celebrate winning the cup on Wedvesday, as we still
have an outside chance of winning the league on the last day. In
reality we lost the league through our iwn errors during the
season, too many mistakes in selection and too much
overthinkning. But that being said we have a chance as slim as
it is.
We first off have to beat the last team id like to gace in
Sarnians a really hard opponent and more importantly we nee Rael
to lose at home. Like I said SLIM CHANCE, but we live in hope.
As far as selection today isn't Hikarra is the only player not
available.[/font]

With one hand already on the division 2 title, all Golden Eagles
FC really need against Robbaillie Escocia is a point. Even
deafet would be ok, providing that result, coupled with the AFC
Coventry vs Helsinki Hellhounds result doesn't over turn Eagles
+12 goal difference advantage over Hellhounds. Robbaillie seemed
to have run out of steam these past couple of weeks, with back
to back defeats seeing them drop from 1st with a point lead to
3rd with a 4 point deficit. While Eagles have had 2 convincing
3-0 wins on the bounce.
Eagles will be without captain Artem Poltorak, who picked up
another yellow, taking him to the 24 DP threshold. Taavi
Ruusumki will step into to take his place, with Martin
Prochzka on the bench. Meanwhile Robbaillie are missing
Argentine midfielder Shiavi D. Asis who was sent off against
Kingfisher Dolphins last week.
"We are so close now that we can taste it, all we have to do is
continue the way we have been playing and not make any slip ups.
The boys have worked hard all season and that hard work is
finally paying off. We are super happy to have gained automatic
promotion and now we are looking for the cherry on the top."
As long as nothing crazy weird happens, Eagles will finish top,
but what about the teams below also fighting for promotion?
Kingfisher Dolphins (who play Cockney Cockrells) are already
guaranteed a play-off spot in 5th, as they are 4 points clear of
6th and the same gap to 4th. So that leaves Hellhounds,
Robbaillie and Cockrells with only 2 points separating 2nd to
4th places. All 3 teams have a tough final game, Coventry held
Eagles to a home draw a few weeks back and Dolphins beat
Robbaillie away last week.

Caretaker manager Dave Rosewell's final game in charge of United
1908, will be away against Highland Rangers. United will be
hoping to finish the season a high after last week's poor
showing against Division 2 champions elect Golden Eagles FC.
They are also hoping to hang on to 8th place with Sky Blues (who
play hoststo Thames Ironworks) only 2 points behind breathing
down their necks.
United have a whole team to chose from and it expected they will
switch back to their prefered 3-1-4-2 which had been working so
well for them. A couple of players like Lewys Gallahad and Artem
Kolinko are Still short on minutes. Highland Rangers are missing
a few players through suspension, Stan Ravrock, Diode Navrick
and Juan Piollo are all ineligible for selection.
"Would be great to end my tenure with a win, but Rangers will be
a tough away opponent. I'd like to thank all of the players,
staff an fans for making me feel welcome."

So it all comes down to this.
It is effectively our cup final. The title is within our own
hands. A win and we are champions. A draw may be enough but with
a worse goal difference than Kyushu it will be squeaky bum time
because with a win they'll be champions on goal difference.
We do have a full squad to choose from and we are at home so we
will be anticipating a win, not taking anything away from Sunset
though.
We will probably go with 2 upfront for this one and come out of
the traps quickly to give ourselves some breathing space.
This could also be the last chance for some of the players to
put on the Nerrad shirt as some may be moving on in the
pre-season, although talisman Marcentos has signed a new long
term contract.
I'm sure there will be a great atmosphere at Parallel Park this
afternoon.

Darlington All Stars v Puskas Academia
Final game of the season which in truth has come round quicker
than expected. We finished 10th last season so improvement on
that and a move in the right direction. We were not in a
relegation battle for one. That is good news and we will want to
keep that momentum next season and be looking to improve.
For this game we have a full squad all fit and ready. We do
though have around 3 or 4 that still need this last game to make
their minutes and they will be obviously in the starting eleven
for this and we will sort the team around that necessity.
Great season and hopefully we can finish it in style.

Kyushu Yazuka vs Sarnians
Its not the final league game of the season thats we are
accustomed to, and we will be finishing anywhere between
5th-7th. Although we committed a number of weeks ago to getting
our teenage players extended playing time in the first team.
With the cup final around the corner on Wednesday this approach
largely continues.
