Cartagena 2 - 0 Dyer Island
Good solid win for the home side who bossed this game and
deserved the result. A double from loanee Maeta saw them off to
a good start and they didn't relinquish their lead, moving them
to 4 points in the table and giving them a chance to progress
still.
Eagles 0 - 0 Acorns
Backs against the wall job for Acorns as they held on for dear
life against superior opposition. 2 points from 3 games isn't
going to cut it though and they'll need to find a win from
somewhere.
Helsinki 2 - 1 Old Peacocks
Privately the manager admitted before the game he had dreamt of
a 9 - 1 victory. In truth, they had enough chances to deliver
that result, but 40 shots and 24 saves from Schmeichel meant
they nearly didn't even end up with 3 points! Joule gave
Peacocks an early lead but a double from Karrar who is finally
finding some form saw Helsinki get their noses in front and they
didn't relinquish that lead. Lyle Warwick continued to impress
from midfield with an assist and 5 key passes. It continues to
worry the manager that despite their firepower they aren't
hitting the back of the net more often. Hurts missed 6 attmepts,
HarrisJones 5 attempts and Shephard 5 attempts. On another day
it would have cost them. 6 points from 3 games and they lead the
group. A win in the next round of fixtures might be enough to be
confident of a top 2 finish and give them a chance to rest more
players.

Golden Eagles FC 0 - 0 Acorn Academicals
Talk about parking the bus, this is exactly what Acorns did with
5 defenders and 3 defensive midfielders which set the tone of
game from the get go. Despite being the stronger side, Eagles
had a tough time breaking down Acorn's super defensive
formation. It was also a wonder that none of the Acorn players
got sent on with 11 fouls, but they only received 2 yellow
cards. The ref's short-sightedness was clear from the first
minute when Winston Hales clearly bought down Julio Xavier in
the area and he just waved play on. Then in the second half,
Rost Yulev went in studs up against Juan lvarez, but only
received a yellow card despite showing intent.
Late on Guil Esteboso thought that he had put his side in front
after his header hit the underside of the bar and had looked to
go over the line before Acorn's keeper smothered it. However,
yet again the ref was a blind fool and didn't give the goal and
the home fans around the stadium really let him know how they
felt. The game finished 0-0 and Eagles have surely got to feel
that this was 2 points lost, the draw sees them slip to 2nd
place on 5 points with AFC Coventry sitting top following their
shock win over Sarnians. While Sarnians and Acorns sit on 2
points apiece with 3 more group games to go.
