Has anyone fitted a Sachse electronic ignition to their Nuovo
Falcone?

I fitted one to a '68 Honda CL350 with good results.

Yes, I run one on my Compressore. It doesn't come cheap, but it's
top quality. Easy to install, and maintenance free.Only thing is
: it needs a good main switch. Like all electronic ignitions, it
is sensitive for a constant supply of power.

Thanks. I know lot of folks prefer to stick with original
mechanical advance points on vintage bikes, but with several
needy old bikes, the maintenance free aspect of an electronic
ignition is very appealing.
I could see installing a small relay to power the electronic
ignition so as to not run the risk of a voltage drop across 40+
year old switches and connectors.

I have to say that I haven't touched my points for the past
10,000 km. Wear isn't an issue on the NF, although i could see
electronic ignition being attractive if you do high mileage, or
have a highly tuned engine...
A local friend built an Indian Scout, and fitted electronic
ignition; it failed, and he fitted the points back on at the
side of the road, and they are still there.
Sometimes improvements are not an improvement...

I want to put one on my nuovo falcone but I realised that none
of the timing curves are a match to the original one that start
at 10 and finish at 44. Instead they start between 2 and 8
to finish at 34, is that an issue ?

That can not be, here the 3 curves of the Sachse ignition ZDG
3.1,
the black line is the original, number 3 is almost the same:

Sachse has another ignition, with 9 curves; of which 2 are
special for twin sparc ignition. This is the one I installed on
my Compressore.

I finally got around to installing the Sachse electronic
ignition I bought for my NF more than a year ago. I've put
>1000 miles on the bike since, and it's running quite well - - -
better than it was with my somewhat sloppy advance mechanism.
Installation was very simple, and checking static timing is very
easy as the Sachse pickup plate has a built-in LED that turns
off when the piston reaches TDC. I bought the lower cost unit
that only has 3 advance curves. The more expensive unit with
additional advance curves and a rev limiter might be more
interesting to the hot rod guys.
I'll keep the mechanical advance on the bike as a backup as I've
set up the wiring so I can convert back to stock in about 20
minutes.
Given the high cost and limited availability of stock advance
mechanism, the Sachse system seems like a reasonable
alternative.

Thanks for the update PG; as you say, if you have a compromised
original system, it does make more sense
